Louisville basketball made some major news this offseason, as Pat Kelsey landed nine commitments, including six from the Transfer Portal and three from the 2026 recruiting class. His biggest splash came from the portal landing 5-star transfer and the No. 1 overall transfer in the portal, Flory Bidunga.
He also landed former 5-star point guard Jackson Shelstad, and when Shelstad was asked about Bidunga's defensive presence, he had nothing but high praise for his new teammate, saying, "We have the best rim protector in the country." Immediatley Louisville fans love to hear this because this has been a glaring weakness of theirs the past two seasons, and Shelstad isn't wrong. Bidunga averaged 2.6 blocks this past season and earned 91 blocks on the year, winning the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award.

Louisville football loses top ranked commitment in 2027 recruiting class
Louisville football got crushing news last week when its top 2027 recruiting class commitment, Allen Evans, decommitted from Louisville and flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt. The 4-star recruit is a Louisville native who plays for Trinity High School and was the Cardinals' sixth-highest-rated commitment in program history. That is no longer the case, as he now heads to the SEC.
Evans ranked as high as No. 76 in the 2027 cycle and No. 9 among cornerbacks. He is a lockdown cornerback; this past season, he didn't allow a single touchdown, earning him a spot on the All-American Second-Team. He ranked as the second-best recruit from Kentucky, and with him flipping his commitment from the Cardinals to the Commodores, Louisville now has 16 commitments.

Louisville in recruiting battle with Michigan and Ohio State for 4-star CB
With Evans gone, the Cardinals' new dream target is clear. Louisville has entered the race for 4-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert Jr. This is reportedly a three-team battle for the Indiana decommit as the Cards are up against two powerhouse programs from the Big 10 in Michigan and Ohio State.
Right now, Michigan is trending as the favorite after earning a prediction to land Torbert from On3's Allen Trieu and Ethan McDowell following the Wolverines' visit. Michigan and Ohio State earned a visit, while Louisville is trying to crash the party late. It is reported that the 4-star will announce his decision on July 1, so the Cardinals have some ground to catch if they want to steal him from these two big-time programs. Torbert ranks as high as No. 10 among cornerbacks and No. 70 overall in the recruiting class.
