Louisville football gets absolutely gut-wrenching news from their 4-star cornerback, Allen Evans, as the Cardinals learned on Friday that their top-ranked cornerback had flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt.

The Cardinals were aiming to build an elite 2027 recruiting class, but with Evans' decommitment, they will have an uphill battle to achieve that goal. Cards fans were a bit worried about Evans flipping his commitment, but seeing the Louisville native actually go through with it is completely heartbreaking to the Cardinals nation.

Elite 4-star CB Allen Evans flips commitment from Louisville to SEC team
Evans was the top-ranked commitment in Jeff Brohm's 2027 recruiting class, as the Louisville native is a unanimous 4-star cornerback. He ranks as high as a top 100 recruit in the class, but now the hometown star is off to the SEC.
Evans ranks as high as No. 76 in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 9 among cornerbacks. The Kentucky star attends Trinity High School, where he ranks No. 2 among Kentucky recruits after finishing this past season with 28 tackles, two interceptions, and absolutely locking down, not allowing any touchdowns.
The 4-star earned Second-Team Junior All-American honors and was a big reason why Trinity High School reached its third straight 6A state championship.
When the 4-star committed to Louisville back in January, Brohm and his staff were jumping out of their states and stoked they landed Evans over major programs like Vanderbilt, Penn State, Alabama, and Tennessee. However, his verbal commitment wasn't enough, as six months later Clark Lea and the Vanderbilt Commodores ripped the Cardinals' top commitment, completely gut-punching Brohm and Louisville's 2027 class.
Louisville has now seen four recruits decommit and flip their commitments, including 4-star Jack Sorgi, who flipped his commitment to Wisconsin, and 3-star Brooklyn Maxey, who flipped his commitment to Kansas State.
Evans flipping to Vandy is crushing news to the Cardinals fans and Jeff Brohm, but the Cardinals have to quickly move on and try to go get that next star cornerback in the 2027 class.
