Louisville basketball found out some important information yesterday, as the Cardinals now know the official date for their massive showdown with their in-state rival, the Kentucky Wildcats. The Cardinals and Wildcats will make history next season, as their intense showdown will take place on November 11, marking the earliest the game has ever been played.
The two teams are expected to have a legitimate shot at winning the 2026 NCAA National Tournament after both have had a massive offseason. Louisville and Kentucky will also bring elite recruits, making this showdown a must-watch. It is just now unfortunate to find out it is on a Tuesday night and early November rather than a prime-time game in December.

Also, something worth noting is that the Cardinals found out that they will play SMU and an undetermined team twice in the 2025-26 season, and all the other ACC programs once, seven games at home and seven games away. Louisville will play 18 total ACC games and will look to secure its first-ever ACC crown.

Louisville football recruiting update
Louisville Cardinals' class of 2026 just got even better, without earning a commitment. The Cards' 3-star quarterback Briggs Cherry verbally committed to Jeff Brohm and Louisville back in January, and after his time at the Elite 11 Finals, the future Cardinal's rankings skyrocketed.
Cherry was voted one of the camp's top performers. The 6-foot-4 quarterback out of Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn., showcased his ability to throw at an elite level all week. After the event, Rivals updated their recruiting class, and Cherry was a player who saw some of the most action.
The quarterback was unranked entering the event and was ranked as the 12th-best player out of the state of Tennessee and the 24th-best quarterback in the class of 2026. After the event, Rivals ranks him as a 4-star recruit and is now ranked No. 128 in the nation, fifth-best player out of Tennessee, and the 13th-best quarterback in the respective class.
