Louisville basketball lost two coaches earlier this offseason, and Pat Kelsey just went ahead and replaced one with his latest hire. The Cardinals fans learned earlier this week that Louisville will hire former Campbell head coach John Andrzejek as their new assistant coach.
Andrzejek guided Campbell to a 16-18 record this past season, but before his lone year with the Fighting Camels, Kelsey’s new assistant coach was on the Florida Gators staff as an assistant coach, where he played a key role on the staff and helped guide Florida to its first National Title since 2007. Florida went on to win the SEC and NCAA Tournament Titles in 2025 and finished with a 60-16 record over two seasons.

Vince Marrow teases next Louisville football commitment
Louisville football landed 4-star recruit Ja’Hyde Brown earlier this week, and Vince Marrow sent an eye-popping message shortly after, which has Louisville fans buzzing with excitement. Once Louisville landed Brown, Marrow posted on social media, “We’re not done yet. This next one is going to have you turning your head. Go Cards!”
Louisville has already landed five 4-stars this recruiting class, and Marrow is certainly making it seem like another one is on the way. The Cardinals fans are now keeping a lookout for another commitment sooner rather than later after Marrow’s tease, and are excited to learn who he is hinting at. Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class ranks No. 7 in the nation and has already landed Kentucky’s No. 2 recruit in Allen Evans, so with him saying the next one will turn your heads, the Cards fans are excited to see who the next commitment will be.
Khani Rooths reportedly planning to enter Transfer Portal
On the downside this week, Louisville learned it will lose its second player to the portal, as On3 Sports' Joe Tipton reported that Khani Rooths is planning to enter the Transfer Portal. Rooths emerged as a fan favorite after his two seasons with the Cardinals, as the former 4-star commitment was a spark off the bench, providing Louisville with the energy and physicality the Cards needed.
Rooths was a consensus 4-star recruit out of high school who ranked No. 33 and No. 6 among power forwards in the 2024 recruiting class. The 6-foot-10, 215-pound forward averaged 5.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this past season, and 3.3 points and 3.0 rebounds his freshman season.

So, here are two dream, two reach, and two realistic targets for Louisville basketball after Khani Rooths enters the portal.
