Louisville football was able to escape Week 2 with a 14-point win over James Madison, but the Cardinals suffered a massive injury that could impact this team drastically. The Cardinals' star linebacker Stanquan Clark went down with a lower-body injury that Jeff Brohm later revealed will most likely sit him out for multiple weeks.

Louisville fans don't know officially what the injury is, but the fans are preparing for the worst-case scenario after Clark left the game on a cart with a towel on his head. Clark is part of this dominant linebacker room after he was one of Louisville's leading tacklers last season. The Cardinals will need TJ Capers and Antonio Watts to step up, but if Clark is out for the year, that is a massive blow.

Louisville basketball misses out on 7-foot center

Louisville basketball strikes out on one of their top dream prospects in the 2026 recruiting class as the Cardinals got devastating news from Arafan Diane. The 4-star center included Louisville in his top 12, but recently he cut his list down to five schools, and he included Kentucky but not the Cardinals.

Diane is the unanimous top-ranked center in the 2026 recruiting class and is ranked as high as the No. 15 prospect in the 2026 cycle. Louisville will now turn to 4-star center Joshua Iriving to be their top center prospect in the 2026 class, as Irving has an official visit scheduled on September 19.

SMU and Duke fall in Week 2

Louisville football fans saw a crucial upset happen in the ACC as the Baylor Bears took down the No. 17 team in the nation and one of the top ACC teams, the SMU Mustangs. The Cardinals and Mustangs will face off later in the season, but Louisville fans watching these top-ranked ACC teams fall early in the season bring smiles to all the Cardinals' faces.

SMU fell to Baylor 48-45 in overtime, and the Duke Blue Devils also lost in Week 2 as they fell to Illinois, 45-19. Louisville might have had a scare in Week 2 to JMU, but the Cardinals at the end of the day is 2-0 and are now ahead of SMU and Duke in the ACC standings.
