Louisville basketball's projected starting lineup relies heavily on whether Aly Khalifa is available. A few days ago, the Cardinals' starting center was ruled ineligible for the 2025-26 season, meaning he will not play next season. The Cards are going to appeal the situation, but there is unfortunately no guarantee that it will be overturned.

Louisville's starting five would only look slightly different if Khalifa is not eligible. We predicted what the starting five would look like if Khalifa were available or not.

Louisville basketball's dream No. 1 target might be back on the market

The Cardinals were reported to be a team "in the mix" for one of the best players in college basketball, Jamir Watkins. The 6-foot-7 forward is a consensus 5-star transfer and the fourth-best player available in the transfer portal. He is ranked as the seventh best player to enter the portal, and Louisville basketball fans must keep an eye on him as he will most likely become available again soon.

Watkins entered his name in the NBA Draft, but it was reported on Thursday that the 5-star transfer will most likely withdraw from the draft as he is not gaining much momentum and would be a mid-second-round pick. Louisville fans hope the Cardinals are still in the mix for Watkins, but it was reported that North Carolina is a team that would make sense.

Watkins must withdraw his name by May 28 to play College Basketball next season.

SEC powerhouses duck Louisville football

Louisville football is trying to improve its out-of-conference schedule and wanted to add some SEC giants, but it was reported that Tennessee and Ole Miss were not interested in playing Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals.

Louisville reportedly contacted both programs after the series was canceled, meaning a game opened up on their schedule for the future. The Cardinals tried to be a team to consider in a home-to-home series, but both programs shut that down, making it appear the Rebels and Volunteers are ducking the Cardinals.
