Louisville football is just around the corner as the Cardinals are set to face Ole Miss on September 6 in Tennessee. As Cardinals fans wait for this huge showdown, they can turn their attention to high school football in the meantime, as some Louisville commitments recently took the field for the first time in their senior year.
The Cardinals' 2027 recruiting class has some notable commitments, but one Louisville native stands out from the rest. Ja’Hyde Brown is the top-rated commitment in the Cardinals' 2027 recruiting class, and yesterday in the first game of his senior year, he proved why.
Brown was nothing but dominant, absolutely stacking the stat sheet and leaving Louisville fans eagerly waiting for him to become a Cardinal next season officially.
Louisville's Ja'Hyde Brown explodes for four-touchdown performance
On Friday night, Brown took the field for Christian Academy of Louisville in their opening game against Pikeville. Brown and Christian Academy dominated from start to finish, earning a 41-0 victory. The star of the show was the Cardinals 4-star commitment, as Brown’s stat sheet was eye-popping, to say the least.
The speedy wide receiver finished the game with an impressive 11 catches for 180 yards and four touchdowns. Brown is coming off a dominant year where he was named the KFCA Class 3A Player of the Year after earning 98 catches for 1,556 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Now, in his first game as a senior, in just one half of play, he is already turning heads nationwide. Brown initially committed to Indiana but decommitted in early 2026. He then committed to his hometown school, Louisville, and has been committed since March 30.
The 5-foot-11, 280-pound wide receiver had a very impactful summer, as he was named Rivals MVP at The Opening, which ultimately made him soar in the 2027 rankings. Brown was ranked No. 252 in the nation and now, after a dominant summer, ranks No. 66 in the 2027 recruiting class, No. 11 among wide receivers, and as high as No. 1 from Kentucky, according to MaxPreps.
The Louisville native is the first top-100 commitment for the Cardinals since Corey Reed in 2020, and now Brown marks the seventh-highest-ranked commitment in program history, according to On3 Sports rankings. The first game of his senior year is another sign of how talented the speedy wide receiver is, and why it is so crucial for Jeff Brohm to keep him and avoid a nightmare scenario of Brown flipping schools like Allen Evans.
