Louisville football is in a bit of a skid right now with its 2027 recruiting class, as the Cardinals have lost multiple recruits in the past couple of months. Louisville lost 4-star cornerback and Louisville native Allen Evans to Vanderbilt after a visit, and just shortly after, the Cardinals' elite 4-star native decommitted and flipped, 4-star wide receiver Chucky Alexander Jr. flipped as well.
Now, Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow are looking to bounce back and climb up in the 2027 rankings, and while they didn’t land another commitment today, they did get a massive update surrounding a recruit. Louisville landed 4-star Ja’Hyde Brown earlier this year after he decommitted from Indiana, and after a monster offseason at camps, the 4-star Louisville commit just received major recognition.
Ja'Hyde Brown soars in latest 2027 Recruiting Rankings
Before Evans decommitted and flipped from Louisville, the Louisville native was one of the highest commitments in program history and the highest commitment in the 2027 recruiting class. Now, Brohm’s newest top-ranked commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle is none other than the 4-star wide receiver from Christian Academy of Louisville, Ja’Hyde Brown.
Rivals is one of the major recruiting media outlets for college football, and after a busy summer of high school recruiting and camps, they recently updated their rankings. In these updates, many high school football players saw major updates, and one of the biggest risers in the update was the Louisville native and Brohm’s top commit.
Before the update, Brown was a unanimous 4-star recruit and ranked as high as No. 252 in the 2027 recruiting class, No. 49 among wide receivers, and No. 5 among recruits from Kentucky. Now, the top Louisville commit is ranked No. 66 in the nation, surging up 186 spots.

Brown’s massive jump is coming after winning MVP at The Opening Finals earlier this summer, after he put on a dominant display. The Louisville native showcased his speed and ability to get open, and was rewarded by Rivals with this massive surge.
Brown attends Christian Academy of Louisville, where he had a jaw-dropping junior year. The new top 100 recruit in the 2027 recruiting class secured 98 catches for 1,556 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Now, Brohm and Vince Marrow have to do whatever it takes to avoid losing Brown to an SEC school, like what happened to Evans or to another big-time school. Brown is already on major flip watch after his MVP award this summer, and now, with this massive jump, it is likely those teams will continue to push for the 4-star Louisville commit.
