Louisville football is having the big-time week it desperately needed. The Cardinals learned yesterday that they landed elite 4-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, making him the fourth 4-star commitment in the Cardinals' 2027 recruiting class.

Fife is an Alabama native who earned over 34 offers and was originally committed to Tennessee. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound defensive lineman ranks as high as No. 390 overall in the 2027 recruiting class and now is the Cardinals' fourth-highest commitment this class.

The other big news this week is that Louisville football’s 2027 recruiting class includes the 4-star local wide receiver, Ja’Hyde Brown. The elite wide receiver soared up the 2027 recruiting class rankings and is now one of the highest-rated top commitments in program history.

Ja'Hyde Brown just etched his name in Louisville's history books

On Monday, Rivals updated their recruiting rankings, and one of the biggest risers from the update was the Cardinals' elite 4-star wide receiver. Brown skyrocketed up the rankings from No. 252 in the nation to No. 66 in the 2027 recruiting class, immediatley making him the Cards' top-ranked commitment in this class.

When looking back at the Cardinals' recruiting history, fans will quickly realize that Brown’s surge puts his name in the Louisville history books. As of right now, Brown is ranked as high as No. 66 in the nation, which would mean he is the seventh-highest-ranked commitment in program history, according to On3 Sports rankings.

Brown’s surge makes him Louisville’s first top 100 commitment since 2020, when Corey Reed committed to the Cardinals, who were ranked as high as No. 41 in the nation. Now, with Brown’s massive surge, the Cardinals have a historic commitment from the local 4-star, making it crucial for Louisville to keep him.

Brown is on flip watch at the moment, as following his MVP award at The Opening Finals, the elite wide receiver has heard from major programs like Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Kentucky.

Earlier this year, Louisville earned a historic commitment from 4-star cornerback Allen Evans, but the Cards were gut-wrenched last month when the Louisville native decommitted from Louisville and flipped to Vanderbilt. Now, Brohm and Vince Marrow have to make sure that doesn’t happen again, and they keep this historic commitment.

The 4-star wide receiver attends Christian Academy of Louisville and is coming off a dominant season in which he caught 98 passes for 1,556 yards and 24 touchdowns.
