The Cardinals are looking to make history with this 2027 recruiting class, as Louisville has never had a top-20 recruiting class. The Cards need a huge summer if they want to make history, and just moments ago, Louisville landed its 16th commitment of the cycle.

The Cards have prioritized their home state, and Louisville landed its fifth Kentucky native commitment in the 2027 recruiting class when Darrian Tomlin announced his commitment to the Cardinals.

Louisville football lands Darrian Tomlin over Miami and others

Louisville was Tomlin’s first Power Four offer, as the Cardinals extended their offer to the Kentucky native back on January 31, 2026. Tomlin received four offers before his commitment to Louisville, including one recently from the National Champion runner-ups and Louisville’s ACC rival, the Miami Hurricanes.

Tomlin announced that Miami extended its offer on May 21, and the Hurricanes hosted an unofficial visit earlier this spring, but Brohm and Marrow landed the hidden gem over Miami. Other programs that extended an offer to Tomline included Toledo and Eastern Kentucky.

The Kentucky native is from Versailles, Kentucky, where he plays for Woodford County High School. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker logged 19 tackles and 4.5 for loss. He's a two-way athlete in high school, also playing running back, dominating this past season by rushing for 1,550 yards and 19 touchdowns while catching 19 passes for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Cardinals now have 16 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, including five from Kentucky and five from Ohio. Marrow and Brohm have made it clear they are prioritizing these two states, and now the Cards will try to build off their recent major weekend.

A couple more names to keep a close eye on include 4-star linebacker Theo Wilson and 3-star Kentucky native Dre’Mail Carothers. Both recruits were on campus this past weekend, and the Cards will now try to land their next two commitments following the recent visit.

The Cardinals are trying to earn their first top-25 recruiting class since 2023 and just their third top-25 recruiting class in program history. Louisville, as of right now, ranks No. 25 in the nation for its 2027 recruiting class.
