Louisville football has had an eye-popping 2027 recruiting class as the Cardinals ranked No. 22 in the nation with their 18 commitments. Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow are off to a red-hot start in the month of June, landing four commitments, including three this week and 4-star AJ Tillman Jr. earlier this month.

However, the Cardinals hit a minor bump Thursday evening when Louisville fans learned that 3-star wide receiver Antwan Lockett had committed to the Cardinals' ACC foe, Georgia Tech.

Louisville was one of three finalists for the 3-star wide receiver, with all three finalists in the ACC. Lockett ultimately chose Georgia Tech over Louisville and Florida State. The Georgia native ranks as high as No. 874 in the nation, No. 107 among wide receivers and No. 105 among Georgia recruits.

Lockett received over six offers, with Georgia, East Carolina, and Liberty also extending offers, in addition to the three finalists. The 6-foot, 170-pound wide receiver recently took a visit to Florida State on May 29 and Georgia Tech this past weekend on June 5.

The 3-star wide receiver finished his junior campaign with 40 catches for 811 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Now, Louisville will look to earn commitments during its major recruiting weekends over the past couple of weekends. Louisville hosted  27 recruits combined the past couple of weekends, which ultimately led to three of Louisville's four commitments this month.

A couple of names that stand out right now for the Cardinals include 3-star Kentucky native Dre'mail Carothers and 4-star linebacker Theo Wilson. Both recruits were on campus this past weekend, and the Cardinals are currently the slight favorite for Carothers.

Louisville is in an ACC battle for the 3-star QB as the Cardinals have the slight edge over UNC, according to On3 Sports. The Cardinals currently have a 36.5 percent chance to land Carothers, while North Carolina is right behind Louisville at 32 percent. North Carolina earned a visit from the 3-star quarterback on May 29, and also earned a visit this weekend, and is in the mix with USF.

As for Wilson, the Cardinals hosted him for a visit this past weekend, and he is in a recruiting battle with Virginia, North Carolina, and LSU. The 4-star linebacker took a visit to Virginia in May and will visit LSU on June 19. He ranks No. 292 in the nation and is No. 20 among linebackers.

With Louisville trying to earn the highest-rated class in program history, Wilson and Carothers emerge as two huge targets for the Cardinals. Louisville currently ranks No. 22 in the 2027 recruiting team rankings, and its highest-ranked class in program history was No. 24 in 2006.
