Louisville football just had its best Transfer Portal day, landing eight commitments, bringing its total to 12. The Cards added needed depth on the offensive line, defensive line, and tight end, so the next primary focus is now wide receiver.
Louisville is trying to land its WR1 after losing six of its top seven receivers from last year. The Cardinals have already landed visits from multiple receivers, but one of their top targets just got ripped off the board as Kansas State transfer Jayce Brown has officially committed to LSU.
Brown is one of the top wide receivers in the Transfer Portal and was scheduled to visit Louisville, but it appears that won’t happen as Lane Kiffin and LSU gained his commitment after their visit. Brown was ranked as high as the No. 3 wide receiver and the No. 48 overall transfer.

Louisville football loses its second WR target to the LSU Tigers
Brown is the second wide receiver target off the Cardinals' board, as Wyatt Young was also scheduled to visit Louisville but committed to Oklahoma State after his visit to the Cowboys. Losing Young to Oklahoma State was somewhat expected, as he followed his former coach and quarterback there. The North Texas transfer is ranked as high as No. 40 in the portal and is the No. 8-ranked wide receiver.
Now, Brown is the latest wide receiver target that Louisville missed out on. The Cardinals were able to add an elite tight end, Brody Foley, who logged 9 receiving touchdowns last season, but it is critical for Louisville to add depth at wide receiver. The Cardinals are currently trying to replace Chris Bell, who earned 2,166 receiving yards during his four seasons at Louisville, including a team-high 72 receptions and 917 receiving yards in 2025.
Louisville fans are hoping Brohm will shift his full focus to former Cardinal commit DeAndre Moore Jr. The former Cardinal is the 11th-ranked transfer in the portal and the 3rd-best wide receiver. He hauled in 38 catches for 532 yards and four touchdowns in the 2025 season. The Cardinals are in a recruiting battle right now for Moore with Kentucky, Colorado, and Ohio State.
Another target for the Cardinals is UAB transfer Iverson Hooks. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound sophomore is one of the top targets for many programs, as Louisville is in a battle with Wisconsin, Indiana, Oklahoma State, LSU, Auburn, Oregon, and Virginia. Hooks logged 72 catches for 927 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
The Cardinals are off to a red-hot start this offseason, but the wide receiver room is now the biggest area of need. With Brown gone, the fans are hoping Brohm can work more magic and find a way to land Moore or Hooks.
