Louisville football gets crushing news Sunday, March 9, as the Cardinals learned their 4-star quarterback commitment, Jack Sorgi, will decommit from the program and reopen his recruiting process. Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class is regarded as one of the best recruiting classes in the nation, and it all began when Sorgi committed to the Cards back in June of 2025.

The Indiana was Jeff Brohm’s first commitment in the 2027 recruiting class, and got the dominoes to fall their way as they once had eight total commitments, including five 4-stars. However, with Sorgi leaving Louisville and decommitting from the Cardinals, Brohm and Vince Marrow will have to try to replace Sorgi as they now have seven total commitments, including four 4-stars.

Louisville football's 4-star QB Jack Sorgi decommits

This news doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as Sorgi was recently put on a flip watch after he visited Wisconsin, his father Jim’s alma mater. Jim Sorgi attended Wisconsin from 2000 to 2003 and had a successful college career that would lead to an NFL career as Peyton Manning's backup with the Colts for six seasons from 2004-2009.

Now, Jack is trying to follow his dad’s footsteps and not only play competitive reps for a Division I program, but also to find his way in the NFL. Sorgi recently stated he “absolutely loved everything” when he took a trip to Wisconsin, and the race between Louisville and the Badgers is “definitely close.”

Well, now with Sorgi decommitting from Louisville, it certainly feels like Wisconsin is the heavy favorite to land the former Cardinal commit. The 4-star quarterback committed to Louisville unranked but saw his rankings soar after an impressive junior season with Tri-West High School, where he threw 31 touchdowns and 2,911 passing yards, and is now ranked No. 169 in the nation and No. 15 among quarterbacks.
