Jeff Brohm and Louisville football are trying to make a push in the 2027 recruiting class, as the Cardinals' 2027 class currently sits just outside the top 25. The Cardinals have earned multiple commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, and Brohm and the Cards fans have their eyes on a few more targets in this cycle.

Louisville loses ACC recruiting battle as 3-star LB CJ Ohuabunwa commits to ACC foe

However, Louisville recently learned it missed out on 2027 linebacker  CJ Ohuabunwa, as the 3-star recruit committed to the Cardinals' ACC foe, Florida State. Louisville was in Ohuabunwa's final four as they earned a visit earlier this year, but Florida State ultimately landed the 3-star.

The Cardinals also have their eyes on an even higher linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class, Theo Wilson, but just last week, Louisville got some concerning news from 247Sports.

UNC emerges as heavy favorites for 4-star LB Theo Wilson

Wilson emerged as one of the Cards' top dream targets in the 2027 class as the 4-star recruit visited Louisville earlier this month. However, not too long ago, 247Sports logged a Crystal Ball prediction, and it appears the Cards might lose another ACC recruiting battle as they gave the Crystal Ball prediction to North Carolina.

Wilson was the top-ranked recruit on Louisville's campus a couple of weeks ago during the Cardinals' major recruiting weekend. The Cards had 27 recruits on campus across consecutive weekends, and of those 27 prospects, Wilson is one of the top-ranked visitors.

However, it appears North Carolina has emerged as the dominant favorite in this recruiting battle, as not only did 247Sports log a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Tar Heels, but On3 Sports gives North Carolina a dominant 86.3 percent chance of landing the elite linebacker.

Louisville, as of right now, has two 3-star linebacker commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, which makes Wilson a big-time target. He would quickly be one of the Cards' top commitments if he were to join Brohm's 2027 class; however, it appears he might be heading to Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Wilson ranks as high as No. 292 in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 29 among linebackers. He is a Florida native, which has emerged as one of Brohm and Vince Marrow's top recruiting states, but UNC might be stealing this one from the Cards.

The 4-star is coming off a dominant junior season where he logged an impressive 96 total tackles, 34 tackles for a loss, 17 quarterback hurries, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, two pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and one interception.

If Louisville misses on Wilson and UNC lands the 4-star, another target Louisville Cardinals fans should keep an eye on is 4-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert.
