Jeff Brohm and Louisville football are in the heat of the summer, which means the 2027 recruiting class is making a lot of decisions. As of now, the Cardinals are trending around the top 30 in the nation's rankings for the 2027 cycle, but Brohm has his eyes on the history books.

Louisville is in the running for one of the program's best recruiting classes in history, and with summer heating up, every commitment decision matters.

On Monday, Louisville was in the running for 3-star linebacker CJ Ohuabunwa, but the Cardinals unfortunately lost the ACC recruiting battle, as the Georgia native committed to Florida State over Louisville and others.

Louisville learned they were a finalist for the 3-star linebacker, putting the Cardinals in a recruiting battle with Florida State, Kansas, and Virginia Tech. However, Brohm and Vince Marrow came up a bit short as Ohuabunwa ultimately committed to the Seminoles over the Cardinals.

The 3-star linebacker is from Norcross, Georgia, and is ranked as high as No. 885 in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 74 among linebackers. Ohuabunwa received over 27 offers, including from his final four schools and other major programs such as Indiana, Georgia Tech, Duke, and Wake Forest.

The 3-star linebacker took an official visit to Louisville earlier this month and explained he had a "great" visit with the Cardinals.

"It was great," stated Ohuabunwa. "The weekend was very immersive. I felt like I could join the team this weekend."

However, he also had official visits scheduled with Florida State and Virginia Tech, and shortly after his visit with the Seminoles, he committed to Mike Norvell and his staff.

Now, Brohm and Louisville will quickly move on from Ohuabunwa, as the Cardinals and their staff have their eyes on another major linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class, Theo Wilson. The 4-star took an official visit to Louisville earlier this month as well, and ever since, Cardinals fans have had their eyes on his recruiting process.

Wilson ranks as high as No. 292 in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 29 among linebackers. Wilson had an eye-popping junior season for Armwood High School, earning 96 total tackles, 34 tackles for a loss, 17 quarterback hurries, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, two pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and one interception.
