Louisville football learned on Saturday evening that one of its cornerback targets had committed elsewhere. Louisville is in conversations with multiple cornerbacks at the moment, as Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow are looking to pair their 4-star cornerback commit, Allen Evans, with somebody in the 2027 recruiting class.

Louisville learned that 3-star corner Ramir Harris-Dupree committed to the Indiana Hoosiers over Louisville and others. Right now, Evans is Louisville's lone cornerback commitment, and Brohm was hoping to add depth to his secondary in this 2027 class, but Harris-Dupree ultimately chose the Hoosiers over the Cardinals.

Harris-Dupree earned over 22 offers, including from Louisville on May 12. He also received offers from other Power Four programs, including Missouri, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers.

The 6-foot-1, 160-pound cornerback ranked as high as No. 98 among cornerbacks and No. 1,184 among 2028 recruits. The 3-star cornerback plays football at Grimsley High School, where he earned 54 tackles, 10 pass breakups, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery.

Louisville football's No. 1 CB target in 2027 class

Louisville football is looking to make history with its 2027 recruiting class, as the Cardinals are on the verge of having a top-25 class for the third time in program history. The only other times Louisville had a top-25 class were in 2026, when it ranked No. 24, and in 2023, when it ranked No. 25.

Now, Louisville is trying to get back in that coveted top 25, and while they missed on Ramir Harris-Dupree, Brohm and company have their eyes on an even bigger target. It was reported on Friday that Louisville has emerged in the battle for elite 4-star cornerback, Monsanna Torbert.

Steve Wiltfong, a top recruiting expert for Rivals, reported that the Cardinals are the newest threat to Torbert as Louisville enters the race. As of now, it appears to be a three-team race since Louisville entered, with the Cardinals now battling Ohio State and Michigan.

All three programs extended offers to Torbert, as Louisville made its offer on March 10, and Ohio State was the last of the three to extend its offer on April 6. Ohio State held the 4-star cornerback for an official visit on June 12, and Michigan is having him on campus this weekend on June 19.

Torbert was originally an Indiana commit, but he decommitted from the Hoosiers, and now it appears Louisville is battling some Big Ten powerhouses for the 4-star cornerback. The 4-star cornerback ranks right behind Louisville's 4-star cornerback Allen Evans as the No. 10-ranked cornerback in the 2027 recruiting class and ranks as high as No. 70 overall in the 2027 cycle.
