Louisville football continues to be a team many media outlets are paying attention to, as CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford recently released his way-too-early bowl projections, and while the Cardinals aren’t in his College Football Playoffs, they are right there on the outside looking in, playing Oklahoma in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. There is a lot to be excited about in the Cardinals' football program, but they are often an underrated team that not many college football fans know about. However, this offseason, many media outlets appear to be high on Jeff Brohm and Louisville.
Crawford recently stated that Louisville is one of six teams with a strong chance to make its first College Football Playoff appearance this season, and then, in his way-too-early bowl projection, he began by saying, “Pay attention to Louisville next season.” The Cardinals are getting a lot of offseason praise right now, and while it's only March, fans are excited to watch some spring football.

Louisville football’s 4-star QB commit on flip watch
Louisville football's 4-star quarterback is entering flip-watch territory, as it was recently reported that Louisville and Wisconsin are in a close battle for the Cardinals' commitment, Jack Sorgi. The 4-star 2027 recruit committed to Louisville back in June of 2025, but now, after his rankings skyrocketed after his dominant junior season, the Badgers are recruiting Sorgi heavily.
Sorgi’s dad, Jim Sorgi, played at Wisconsin for four years from 2000 to 2003. Now, with Sorgi ranked as high as No. 169 in the nation and No. 15 among quarterbacks, it appears Sorgi is interested in his dad’s alma mater. Louisville will look to keep its 4-star commitment as they host him for an official visit on May 29.

Jeff Brohm and the Louisville Cardinals losing ground with 4-star Cam Wade
The Cardinals are off to a red-hot start in the 2027 recruiting class, but Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow got a concerning update from one of the best in-state recruits, Cam Wade. The 4-star wide receiver cut his list to just four schools, and Louisville had the best chance of earning his commitment at 31.3 percent, according to On3 Sports, but now it's been reported he will “slow things down a bit” and is set to make eight visits this spring and three official visits.
There is a new leader for Wade as On3 Sports updated his recruiting process, and the Auburn Tigers are the new favorite with a 27.8 percent chance of landing his commitment, followed by Florida State’s 24.3 percent, Maryland’s 20.8 percent, and now Louisville has the fourth-best chance at 8.9 percent. Louisville will host Wade for an unofficial visit on April 4. Wade ranks as a 4-star recruit and the No. 5 prospect out of Kentucky.
