Louisville football gets more crushing news for its 2027 recruiting class as the Cardinals learned one of its top-ranked recruits flipped his commitment. Louisville was turning heads nationwide with its 2027 recruiting class as the Cardinals got off to a red-hot start and were ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation in recruiting team rankings.
However, the summer months haven’t been good for Jeff Brohm and Louisville, as the Cardinals lost their top-ranked commitment in Allen Evans, and now, just a couple of weeks later, they learn they've lost 4-star wide receiver Chuck Alexander Jr. to Iowa State.
Louisville loses 4-star WR Chuck Alexander Jr. to Iowa State
Alexander was one of Louisville’s many Ohio native commitments, but the Cardinals learned on Friday that their 4-star commitment had flipped his commitment to Iowa State.

The 4-star Ohio native has been on flip watch for Louisville for a little while now, as he scheduled official visits with Wisconsin and South Carolina, and he reportedly took an official visit to Iowa State that not many knew about. Now, following that visit to the Cyclones, Louisville lost another marquee 2027 commitment.
Alexander committed to Louisville back in November, and now he flips to Iowa State after earning over 26 offers and from Power Four programs like Louisville, Wisconsin, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Iowa, and others.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver is a gut-wrenching loss for Brohm and Vince Marrow as he ranks as high as a 4-star recruit, No. 273 among 2027 prospects, No. 40 among wide receivers, and No. 17 among recruits from Ohio. Alexander had an eye-popping junior year, earning 21 catches for 369 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Louisville has now seen five commitments decommit, including all who have already flipped their commitments to another program. Louisville native and 4-star cornerback Allen Evans was the biggest one to flip his commitment back in late June. Evans ranks as high as No. 76 in the 2027 recruiting class and flipped to Vanderbilt.
Other notable names include 4-star quarterback Jack Sorgi, who flipped his commitment to Wisconsin; 3-star Kaleb Exume, who flipped his commitment to Boston College, and 3-star Brooklyn Maxey, who flipped his commitment to Kansas State.
Losing Alexander is another gut-wrenching blow for this Cardinals 2027 recruiting class. Louisville and Brohm are now down to 15 commitments in the 2027 cycle.
