Louisville football learned crushing news this past week that its top-ranked 2027 commitment, Allen Evans, flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt. The 4-star cornerback was one of the top-ranked commitments in program history and a big reason this class was ranked so high when he committed back in January.
Louisville football suffers gut-wrenching blow as top 4-star flips commitment to Vanderbilt
Louisville was once ranked as high as No. 4 in the 2027 recruiting class team rankings, and then was ranked just outside the top 25 at No. 28, but with him flipping his commitment, the Cards dropped all the way to No. 39, according to 247Sports. Evans is a Louisville native who attends Trinity High School and is ranked as the No. 76 overall recruit, No. 9 cornerback, and No. 2 recruit out of Kentucky.
With Evans being the fourth commitment and the biggest commitment yet to decommit from the Cardinals' 2027 class, Louisville fans are now hoping more don't follow him. However, it appears Jeff Brohm is about to face another massive test, as his second-highest-rated commitment, Ja'Hyde Brown, remains on flip watch following The Opening Finals.
Louisville 4-star commit Ja'Hyde Brown is hearing from major programs
Over the weekend, Brown showcased his speed, playmaking abilities, athleticism, and what makes him one of the top-ranked wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class. He is a 4-star recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, and this past weekend, he was named The Opening Finals MVP after dominating on the field and being one of the most explosive playmakers at the event.
Brown winning the MVP award gave Louisville fans something to cheer for during the offseason, but shortly after the announcement, Louisville fans learned that major programs were reaching out to him, putting him on flip watch. Brown is now on Louisville fans' flip watch radar following this weekend, as after winning this award, he is reportedly hearing from programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Kentucky.

Brown continues to rise in the 2027 recruiting class, as earlier this year, the Louisville football commit made a massive jump in the 2027 recruiting rankings. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound wide receiver was ranked No. 292 overall, No. 49 among wide receivers, and No. 5 among recruits from Kentucky, and after 247Sports updated their rankings, he soared up the rankings, as he is now ranked No. 196 overall, No. 30 among wide receivers, and is now the No. 3-ranked recruit out of Kentucky.
The 4-star Louisville native attends Christian Academy of Louisville, where he had an eye-popping junior season, securing 98 catches for 1,556 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Now, Brohm faces another massive test: he has just lost his No. 1-ranked recruit and Louisville native in the 2027 recruiting class, Allen Evans, and Brown is reportedly hearing from major SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 programs. The Cards have had four commitments decommit so far in the 2027 recruiting class, and Brohm and the Cardinals have to do whatever it takes to not lose Brown shortly after losing Evans.
