Boom! Jeff Brohm and Louisville football land their top quarterback target in the 2027 recruiting class as the Cardinals just learned that 3-star Kentucky native Dre'Mail Carothers has committed to Louisville.
Predicting 2 Louisville football commits coming this week after huge recruiting surge
The Cardinals now have 17 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, and following a couple of huge recruiting weekends, Brohm has now landed four commitments in June. The Cards had a combined 27 recruits on campus across two weekends, including Carothers. Now, the 3-star commitment has made it official, and committed to Louisville over North Carolina, Oregon State, USF, and others.

Louisville football lands 3-star QB Dre'Mail Carothers
The 3-star quarterback earned over 14 offers in his recruiting process, including from North Carolina, Oregon State, USF, and others. The Cardinals had a 4-star quarterback committed in Jack Sorgi, but Sorgi decommitted from Louisville and quickly flipped to Wisconsin.
Sorgi was the Cards' first commitment in the 2027 recruiting class, but quickly after the 4-star flipped his commitment, Brohm and Louisville extended an offer to Carothers. Following Louisville's offer to the Kentucky native, Carother quickly emerged as the Cardinals' glaring No. 1 quarterback target in the class of 2027.
Carothers is the top-rated quarterback in the state of Kentucky in the 2027 cycle. The 3-star quarterback is ranked as high as No. 882 in the 2027 recruiting class, No. 37 among quarterbacks and No. 10 among recruits out of Kentucky.
Carothers recently visited North Carolina in late May and Louisville in early June, making this an ACC recruiting battle. On3 Sports had it as a tight recruiting battle earlier this week, but just hours before Carothers announced his decision, Louisville became the dominant favorite.
Brohm has been known as an elite quarterback developer in college football, and Carother appears to be his next QB commitment. The 3-star quarterback is coming off a dominant junior season, where he made Kentucky's All-State Second-Team after an eye-popping year with Owensboro Catholic High School.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound quarterback led the state in passing yards with an impressive 4,022 passing yards and added 49 passing touchdowns while completing 67.2 percent of his passes.
Brohm and Vince Marrow have made it clear they want to dominate the in-state recruiting, and with the Cardinals landing Carothers, they have now landed five in-state recruits. Louisville has now earned 17 commitments, five of them from its home state.
Of those five commitments, three are ranked inside the top five of the state of Kentucky, and with the addition of Carothers, Louisville has now landed four Kentucky natives who rank inside the state's top 10.
