Louisville football fans got the biggest gut-wrenching update Friday for their 2027 recruiting class, as the Cardinals learned their top commitment in the class decommitted and flipped his commitment. Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow were among the biggest risers in the 2027 recruiting class as the Cardinals got off to a red-hot start in this class, as they were once ranked No. 4 in the nation earlier this year.

However, that has quickly changed as Louisville has lost now four commitments, including the most recent one, Allen Evans. The 4-star cornerback was the highest-rated commitment in Brohm's class, and so with him now flipping his commitment to Vanderbilt, the Cardinals' class took a major hit in the rankings.

The Cardinals landed multiple 4-star recruits from the state of Kentucky,, which was a major reason this program was eyeing a top-25 class. However, with Evans flipping his commitment to Vandy, achieving this goal is going to be hard.
Louisville was ranked No. 28 in the nation for its 2027 recruiting class before Evans flipped his commitment; however, following his major gut-wrenching update, Louisville has now dropped outside the top 30 and sits at No. 39 on 247Sports' rankings.
Evans is a unanimous 4-star recruit in the 2027 cycle and ranks as high as a top 10 cornerback in the class. The Louisville native plays football at Trinity High School and ranks as high as the second-best recruit from the state of Kentucky.
The former Louisville commit logged an impressive junior campaign, serving as an absolute menace in the secondary for Trinity High School. He logged 28 tackles and two interceptions and didn't give up a single touchdown the entire season, ranking him as high as No. 76 in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 9 among cornerbacks.
Evans marks as the Cardinals fourth recruit to decommit from the Cardinals 2027 recruiting class, and third recruit to flip his commitment. The other most notable recruit to flip from Louisville was 4-star quarterback commit Jack Sorgi. The elite QB was the first recruit to commit to the Cardinals in the 2027 class, however after he visited Wisconsin, he quickly flipped to the Badgers, following in his father's footsteps.
Evans is the third recruit to decommit from the Cardinals 2027 recruiting class this month, as Louisville also lost two 3-stars in Brooklyn Maxey and Kaleb Exume. The Cardinals have only had two recruiting classes rank inside the nation's top 25 after the official signing day, and with Evans gut-wrenching update of flipping to the SEC and Vanderbilt, the Cardinals need to make another major splash if they want to achieve that dream this class.
