Louisville basketball recently got some major news and updates from multiple 5-star recruits. In the past couple of weeks, Pat Kelsey has been making some noise with a few elite prospects, including three 5-stars, Reese Alston, King Gibson, and Cayden Daughtry.
All three guards updated their recruiting lists, and the Cardinals found themselves on all three. The Cardinals have already earned an official visit from Alston and were just told they will host Gibson next weekend on September 4; now they are going to try to get a visit from Daughtry.
On3 Sports Joe Tipton recently reported that Daughtry has scheduled seven official visits, and Cardinals fans quickly realized they were not one.
5-star Cayden Daughtry sets seven official visits
The 5-star guard just cut his list down to 14 teams after he has earned over 33 offers. Louisville is one of the 14 teams, and they are now facing Florida State, Florida, Miami, Iowa, UConn, Arkansas, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Villanova, Providence, Kentucky, Tennessee, and USC.
Now, quickly after cutting his list to 14, he set up official visits with half of them. Tipton reported that Daughtry will visit Florida State (Aug. 28-30), Tennessee (Sept. 4-6), Iowa (Sept. 11-13), UConn (Sept. 19-21), Florida (Sept. 25-27), Miami (Oct. 16-18), and Arkansas (Oct. 30-Nov. 1).

The 6-foot, 155-pound point guard is ranked as high as No. 3 overall and No. 2 among point guards. Daughtry is coming off a dominant and historic Nike EYBL Peach Jam event. He broke Cam Thomas's previous point record in the five pool games, averaging 34.8 points per game after scoring 258 points. He also added 49 assists, 34 rebounds, and 23 steals in those five games.
He finished the event winning MVP after averaging 32.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game, while shooting 56.3 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from beyond the arc.
There is still plenty of time to make up some ground in Daughtry’s recruitment, but missing out on the first seven visits isn’t how Louisville likely drew it up. Making the updated 5-star list was good news for the Cardinals, but hopefully Daughtry will schedule more visits before he cuts his list down again. For now, Louisville needs to keep pushing hard for the No. 3 overall recruit and not be discouraged that the first seven visits haven't been scheduled.
