Louisville football was in an ACC recruiting battle for 3-star linebacker CJ Ohuabunwa, but Monday afternoon, Jeff Brohm and his staff learned the Cardinals unfortunately missed on the Georgia native. Ohuabunwa announced he had committed to the Cardinals, an ACC rival, the Florida State Seminoles, over Louisville shortly after his visit to Tallahassee.

Louisville was in a recruiting battle with some ACC schools, including Florida State, as the 3-stars final four was between Louisville, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and then Big 12 representative, the Kansas Jayhawks. Now, Brohm and Vince Marrow will try to find that next linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class, and when thinking of potential top targets, the Cardinals have a clear No. 1.

Louisville is right back in the mix for another key linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class, and once again it appears to be an ACC recruiting battle. The Cardinals' glaring No. 1 dream target at linebacker in this 2027 cycle is 4-star linebacker Theo Wilson from Seffner, Fla.

Louisville hosted multiple major recruiting weekends earlier this summer, and one of its top visitors was the 4-star linebacker. The Cardinals hosted Wilson on campus for an official visit back on June 5, and since then, we have been keeping a close eye on the elite 4-star.

Similarly to Ohuabunwa, Louisville is in a heated recruiting battle, but this time, it appears to be with Virginia and North Carolina for Wilson. The Cavaliers were the first school to host Wilson for an official visit on May 29, followed by the Cardinals on June 5, and then the Tar Heels on June 12.

Now 247Sports has these three ACC schools battling it out at the moment for Wilson, as all programs have "warm" next to their name. Wilson has received over 35 offers throughout his recruiting process, including from big-time programs like Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, and Kentucky.

As of right now, it appears Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels are in the lead for the 4-star linebacker, but with Louisville missing on Ohuabunwa, maybe Brohm and Marrow make another push for the elite Florida native.

Louisville has two 3-star linebacker commitments so far in the 2027 cycle, so Wilson would be a major addition to this top 30 class. The 4-star ranks as high as No. 292 in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 29 among linebackers.
