Louisville football just had a huge Week 6 win, improving the Cardinals to 3-3 on the year and 2-2 in conference play. After Louisville trailed 14-0 in the first quarter, it outscored Florida State 44-6 in the last three quarters.
Louisville’s Isaac Brown just did something no Cardinal has done in 33 years
The sequence that draws everyone’s attention is, of course, Louisville’s goal-line stand when Mike Norvell elected to go for it on fourth-and-goal, and then, on the very next play, Isaac Brown made history and rushed for a 97-yard touchdown. Jeff Brohm desperately needed this win, and a dominant win should give his team the confidence they need.
The Cardinals still need a lot to happen to go on a run to the ACC Championship Game, but Friday night’s win was one step in the right direction. Louisville has had a lot of highs and lows in 2026, and over the past six weeks, they've been trying to climb back into our top five in our ACC Power Rankings.
There was a lot of chaos and movement in our power rankings, so let's break it down.

ACC Power Rankings break down
Starting in Louisville, the Cardinals climbed several spots after a dominant 44-20 win over Florida State. The Cardinals showed why they were ranked as high as No. 16 at one point this season, and if they can play like that every game, then this Cardinals team has a real chance to win out.
As for the rest of the league, Miami had a bye this weekend, but there is no debate that the Hurricanes are the clear top dog right now. Behind the Hurricanes is Wake Forest, which defeated Louisville in Week 4, dominated North Carolina State on the road, 38-14, and is emerging as the clear No. 2 team in the conference.
After those two, the conference is starting to beat itself up. Duke just suffered its first road loss to Georgia Tech; North Carolina upset Pitt in the Panthers' first game without starting quarterback Mason Heintschel; and Virginia Tech lost to Cal in a close 25-20 game.
So, the conference is seeing a lot of chaos as we enter Week 7, and while there is plenty of football remaining, it certainly looks like Miami will be in Charlotte. As for who they will face? Well, that is the debate. Wake Forest looks like the biggest threat right now, but crazy things happen in the fall, and we saw that this past weekend.
ACC football fans have a lot to look forward to, and the chaos is just beginning. Week 7 brings some interesting matchups: Florida State travels to Miami, Wake Forest travels to Cal, North Carolina travels to Duke, and the Cardinals look to win two straight as they face Syracuse.
