Jeff Brohm has a solid 2027 recruiting class, but one recruit has the nation’s attention. Ja’Hyde Brown is trending as not only one of the best recruits in Kentucky, but also as a potential five-star recruit and a history-maker.

The 4-star commitment is a Louisville native whom Cardinals fans have followed throughout his dominant high school career at Christian Academy of Louisville. Brown originally committed to Indiana, but flipped to Louisville earlier this year; now the 4-star is on everyone’s flip radar after visiting Florida and scheduling three more.

There is no debate that Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow will do whatever it takes to keep the 4-star from flipping, and his senior-year video game numbers prove it.

Brown is currently a top-50 overall recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, and the 4-star commitment has surged in the rankings. He committed to Louisville, ranked No. 252 in the nation and No. 49 among wide receivers, but after winning an MVP award this offseason at a Rivals recruiting event and his dominant senior season, he is now ranked as high as No. 32 overall and No. 5 among wide receivers.

Brown is chasing multiple records in his senior year, just six touchdowns away from the all-time single-season state record and 14 touchdowns away from the national single-season record. As Cal improved to 8-0 this weekend, Brown logged his 25th receiving touchdown this year in just eight games, playing in only 19 of 32 quarters.

He is putting up ridiculous numbers, one eye-popping for sure, but it also shows why Louisville must avoid the nightmare scenario of losing him. The Cardinals already lost local 4-star Allen Evans to Vanderbilt, and now they face a major battle to keep Brown.

Brown visited Florida last weekend and has scheduled visits with Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Texas. It was originally reported that Kentucky would host Brown this weekend, October 10; then he would visit Oklahoma on October 17 and Texas on October 24. However, Brown reportedly didn’t visit Kentucky for the LSU showdown, adding another twist to the recruiting process.

The Louisville commit could become the program's highest commitment and a 5-star commit by signing day, but Brohm and Louisville must keep him a Cardinal and find a way to beat these SEC teams in this crucial recruiting battle.

Over eight games, Brown has been unstoppable in Kentucky, logging 62 catches for 1,047 yards and, of course, his dominant 25 touchdowns. Louisville fans have plenty to watch for in Brown and hope he etches his name into the history books, but let's just hope he stays loyal to Louisville.
