On June 15, college programs were officially allowed to contact recruits in the 2028 recruiting class. Pat Kelsey and Louisville basketball, of course, took advantage of this and contacted multiple recruits in the 2028 cycle, including the nation's No. 1 overall recruit and unanimous 5-star, AJ Williams.

On top of contacting Williams, Kelsey and company also contacted multiple Kentucky natives. One name Louisville fans have had on their radar for quite some time now is Louisville native and 4-star recruit  Josh Lindsay. The high-flying point guard is ranked as high as No. 4 among point guards and as high as No. 26 among 2028 recruits.

However, Lindsay isn't the only Louisville native the Cards fans and the program have on their radar. The city of Louisville has four recruits ranked in the top 100 of the 2028 recruiting class, and 4-star Jordan Mitchell is someone the Cardinals recently contacted after the contact period opened.

Louisville was one of many programs to reach out to Mitchell, but it appears the Cardinals are already in a heated recruiting battle for the 4-star, as on Friday, the Louisville native took a visit to a major Big 10 program.

The 4-star shooting guard took a visit to Ohio State on Friday, putting Louisville immediatley in a recruiting battle with the Buckeyes. The Cardinals have already earned an unofficial visit from the Louisville native, and now it appears the Buckeyes are joining this heated recruiting battle for the elite 4-star.

According to On3 Sports, multiple programs have received unofficial visits from Mitchell, including the Kentucky Wildcats, who have earned two, the most of any program so far. Other programs that have earned unofficial visits include Louisville, which earned it earlier this year in February, Duke, North Carolina, Auburn, Houston, Missouri, and now Ohio State.

Mitchell is an elite shooting guard who currently attends Louisville Male High School. The 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard ranks as high as a 4-star guard, No. 43 in the 2028 recruiting class, No. 10 among shooting guards and No. 2 in the state of Kentucky.

Louisville was one of the first programs to reach out to Mitchell after the contact period opened, and so were other programs that had already earned unofficial visits, like North Carolina, Auburn, and Ohio State. Other programs include Notre Dame, Xavier, Oklahoma State, and WKU.

Mitchell has earned offers from Oklahoma State and TCU as of now, and is coming off a dominant season in which he averaged 24.2 points and shot the ball impressively well at 55.2 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc.

The Cardinals are looking to have an eye-popping 2028 recruiting class as multiple Louisville natives are ranked inside the top 100. Mitchell is emerging as one of the Cardinals' targets in the 2028 recruiting class, and it appears the recruiting battle is quickly heating up for the elite 4-star shooting guard.
