The summer is here, and the Louisville Cardinals are in the middle of summer workouts and practices. The Cards had a dominant offseason in recruiting, adding nine players, including two 5-stars and multiple 4-stars.
Pat Kelsey and Louisville waste no time targeting Kentucky's top-ranked 2028 prospect
Louisville basketball has landed two 5-star recruits in consecutive recruiting classes, as Kelsey landed 5-star Mikel Brown Jr. in the 2025 cycle and Obinna Ekezie Jr. in the 2026 cycle. Now that Louisville is allowed to contact 2028 recruits, Kelsey and the Cardinals quickly reached out to 4-star Louisville native Josh Lindsay.
Lindsay is the state's top recruit, ranking No. 4 among point guards and as high as No. 26 among 2028 recruits. Lindsay isn't the only Kentucky native that Kelsey and the Cardinals contacted this week; it was recently reported that Louisville also reached out to 4-star Jordan Mitchell.

The city of Louisville has multiple recruits ranked in the top 100, and Lindsay and Mitchell are the top two. The Cardinals reportedly also reached out to Mitchell on the 15th, putting the Cardinals in an early recruiting battle with North Carolina, Auburn, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Xavier, and WKU.

Mitchell is an elite shooting guard for Louisville Male who ranks as a unanimous top-75 recruit in the 2028 recruiting class. The 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard ranks as the No. 2 recruit out of Kentucky, as he ranks only behind Lindsay, whom Louisville is also targeting.
Mitchell ranks as high as No. 43 in the 2028 recruiting rankings and No. 10 among shooting guards in ESPN's recruiting rankings. The 4-star recruit has already taken a visit to Louisville, as well as a visit to Duke, Missouri, Houston, Auburn, and two visits to Kentucky, according to On3 Sports.
The 4-star recruit is scheduled to visit Ohio State this weekend, and as of right now, Mitchell has earned offers from Oklahoma State and TCU. The 4-star shooting guard averaged 24.2 points while shooting 55.2 percent from the field and a dominant 41 percent from beyond the arc.
Kelsey and the Cardinals are looking to take full advantage of the opportunity to reach out to the 2028 recruiting class, having already contacted multiple recruits, including several Kentucky natives. Louisville has a chance to have an eye-popping class in the 2028 cycle with four Louisville natives ranking in the top 100.
