Louisville basketball received crushing news late Friday night as one of their top targets committed to UCLA.
Donovan Dent decided to make the UCLA Bruins his next home, and fans were entirely surprised. The Cardinals were dreaming of Dent replacing Chucky Hepburn, but the dominoes didn't fall their way.
The Cardinals officially discovered that their guard, Koren Johnson, had entered the transfer portal, making their guard position slightly slim. So, here we want to break down Louisville basketball's top five point guard targets in the transfer portal that are still available.
Louisville's top five transfer portal PG targets after Dent's commitment
5. Jeremiah Wilkinson
The Cal Golden Bears star point guard recently entered the transfer portal after his impressive 2024-25 season. This elite point guard is ranked as high as the No. 35 best player in the portal and the No. 6 best point guard.
According to On3, Jeremiah Wilkinson is the fourth-best point guard available. Wilkinson averaged 15.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 40 percent from the floor. This true freshman was a 3-star recruit out of high school and a top-40 point guard in the class of 2024.
Last season with Cal, he started 14 games and really took off in the second half of the season. Wilkerson scored 20 points or more in 10 games last season, including his impressive 36-point performance against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He finished with 10 points or more in his final 14 of 15 games to conclude the Golden Bear season, including a five-game stretch of scoring 19 points or more.
Wilkerson averaged 17.2 points in the ACC and proved he can be an elite scorer. Kelsey would have to develop him a little, but after losing Koren Johnson to the transfer portal, the Cardinals should try to steal Wilkerson from Cal.
