The Transfer Portal chaos has slowed down for the most part, but Louisville basketball’s dominant offseason isn’t done just yet. Pat Kelsey has his eye on one massive transfer, Milan Momcilovic.
Flory Bidunga’s latest quote should have Louisville basketball fans dreaming big
Kelsey has already landed a 5-star transfer and the No. 1 overall transfer, Flory Bidunga, but Kelsey isn’t slowing down. Now he has his eyes set on Momcilovic, who ranks as the No. 1 power forward and the No. 2 overall transfer. Momcilovic wants to stay in the NBA Draft if he gets a good promise from an NBA team, but with all sources predicting he will return, it appears the Cardinals are right there in the mix for the elite power forward.
When looking at who is in the mix for the 5-star transfer, two other teams pop up. Jeff Goodman recently stated that Louisville and St. John’s were the frontrunners for Momcilovic, but now Goodman is stating that it could be a battle between the in-state rivals, Kentucky and Louisville.
Milan Momcilovic recruitment turning into Louisville vs. Kentucky showdown
The Cardinals have had a dominant portal run this offseason, landing six transfer commitments, and rank No. 1 overall in the nation for their portal additions. As for Kentucky, Mark Pope and the Wildcats are a team that desperately needs a player like Momcilovic, which explains why they would be in the hunt for the dominant 5-star.
Goodman recently stated that he believes Momcilovic will return to college, and the battle for the 5-star will be between the two rivals.
"He's looking for a 1st Round promise, but I think he'll come back to school, he’s in the portal, and I think it's probably a Kentucky vs Louisville battle,” Goodman stated.

Louisville and Kentucky are obviously one of the top rivalries in college basketball. So, now Kelsey potentially has an opportunity to land a 5-star transfer over Pope, and not only build a legitimate National Title team, but to send a gut punch to Kentucky by landing the 5-star over them would make it just that much sweeter.
Momcilovic would make this Louisville team a legitimate top-five team in the nation, as their frontcourt would consist of the two 5-star transfers, and their backcourt would be led by former 5-star Jackson Shelstad and former 5-star transfer Adrian Wooley.
It won’t be easy to land Momcilovic, and it certainly won’t be cheap, but Kelsey made it clear he wants to win the National Championship, and he will do whatever it takes to make that happen. He already has this roster trending toward being a top-10 team in the nation. Add a player like Momcilovic, and this squad can compete with anyone in the nation.
