Louisville basketball is hopeful its 2025-26 roster can raise a few banners and enter the program's history books. The Cardinals have yet to win an ACC regular-season title or the ACC Tournament Title, but with this roster, many believe that can change.
Louisville's roster is loaded with talent. They have freshmen with NBA potential, key returning veterans, elite transfers who are sharpshooters, and international stars who will provide grit and strength. All of that is crucial for this program's success, as they took a massive leap last season, but they saw just how vital depth and a bench are when March arrives.
Head coach Pat Kelsey finessed this offseason and created one of the best rosters in college basketball. The critical thing to remember is how deep this roster goes, and that is why this team can win the 2026 NCAA Title, which is something they severely lacked last season.

Pat Kelsey solved Louisville basketball's biggest flaw
Last season, Kelsey's squad broke multiple program records, including making the program's first ACC Championship game after breaking the program's record for most conference wins. However, the Cards' were bounced in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and a clear reason for this was their poor shooting and their lack of depth.
Kelsey's bench was weak last season, making it impossible for him to play eight or nine men in Rupp Arena last March. It was clear Louisville didn't have much left in the tank when March Madness came around, but this year, it is an entirely different story.
The Cardinals' roster is stacked. They have a legitimate 12-man roster that fans, experts, and the program feel confident in when they step on the court. It is impossible to predict who will start for Louisville at this moment, but one thing that is for sure is that Mikel Brown Jr. will start.
Outside of Brown, it is clear one of their three transfers will have to come off the bench, and Aly Khalifa, Sananda Fru, Kasean Pryor, and J'Vonne Hadley will all battle it out for the other two starting roles. This roster's depth is one of the best in the nation, and their backups could be a starting lineup for some programs.
The Cardinals' depth is going to be the key reason this team breaks record books and raises a banner. Louisville eyes their first NCAA Title since 2013, but technically can't claim a title since 1986. This basketball town is hungry for a National Championship, and the roster and depth Kelsey has built is the best opportunity for this city in a long time.
