Fresh off the most dominant transfer portal performance in the nation, Louisville Cardinals head coach Pat Kelsey isn't kicking up his feet and relaxing.
Instead, he's hitting the ground running, quite literally, as he turns his attention to the next phase of his recruitment process: the class of 2027.
Kicking things off, Kelsey recently took a trip to Texas to visit the No. 3 point guard in the class, Reese Alston, who has unsurprisingly received attention from across the country.
Putting boots on the ground was the perfect way for Kelsey to truly put in the work on Alston's recruitment, which currently has him leaning toward the Louisville Cardinals, Purdue Boilermakers, Houston Cougars, Kentucky Wildcats, and a few other programs.
Pat Kelsey already leaning into Reese Alston's recruitment
According to 247Sports' Louisville insider Michael McCammon, Kelsey visited Alston in Houston just four months after the 6-foot-3 guard took an official visit to see all that the Cardinals have to offer.
So far, Alston has taken just three official visits, seven visits in total, and as of right now, he doesn't have any more lined up for the summer.
Reese Alston official visit history
- Louisville Cardinals - December 13, 2025
- Purdue Boilermakers - January 24, 2026
- Wichita State Shockers - March 7, 2026
Somewhat surprisingly, the Wichita State Shockers have hung with the power conference programs as a mid-major and secured one of the three official visits that Alston has made so far.
Alston has already received over 30 offers from Division I programs, including a few of Louisville's ACC opponents: the SMU Mustangs, Florida State Seminoles, NC State Wolfpack, and even the Cardinals' in-state rivals: the Kentucky Wildcats.

The young point guard still has his entire senior season ahead of him, but Kelsey isn't shying away from expressing his interest in Alston and putting in the work to lure him to Louisville over any other program in the country.
