As it turns out, it's been a bad news, but good news day for Louisville and Pat Kelsey.

To start, John Blackwell officially said no thanks to Kelsey and Co., cancelling his visit to campus and then committing to Duke and Jon Scheyer not long after that. Fans were dreaming of him picking the Cards, but it wasn't meant to be.

The same can't be said for Iowa transfer Alvaro Folgueiras. The Cards have been on the sharpshooter for a little while and according to On3's Joe Tipton, Louisville was just able to get things over the line, grabbing his pledge. Yup, this is another strong get for the staff.

Iowa transfer Alvaro Folgueiras just gave Pat Kelsey the commit news he wanted

That's now four known transfer commits for Kelsey, but he may not be done cooking just yet. Adding Folgueiras sure is exciting, as he's coming off a strong season for Iowa and Ben McCollum, no question making a difference in the NCAA Tournament.

This past campaign, the 6-10, 230-pounder from Spain averaged 8.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest. He made a name for himself in the Big Dance, highlighted by 14 points in the upset win over Florida, and then 16 points in the victory vs. Nebraska.

According to the 247Sports transfer rankings, the new Louisville commit is ranked four stars, the No. 15 power forward in the country and No. 64 transfer overall for the 2026 group. So, yeah, he's indeed a big-time get for Kelsey and the timing is perfect since Blackwell recently broke some Louisville hearts.

With Folgueiras in the fold, he joins Flory Bidunga, Jackson Shelstad and Karter Knox as the Louisville transfer commits. Kelsey has been on his grind in bringing in veteran talent and this latest bit of news sure has people fired up. That's understandable, as Folgueiras is a veteran presence and he'll be ready to make an immediate impact in the ACC next season.
