Louisville basketball fans have been following all updates on 5-star transfer Milan Momcilovic, as the Cardinals are one of the early contenders for the elite 3-point shooter. Louisville has consistently been a team analysts bring up for a strong candidate for Momcilovic if he returns to college basketball, and up until today, there were usually only two other teams in the conversation.

Jeff Goodman gives Louisville basketball fans a massive Milan Momcilovic update

Louisville was labeled one of the early frontrunners for Momcilovic by Jeff Goodman, who said he thinks Louisville and St. John’s are the early teams in the lead. However, Kentucky has been a team many cite as a strong possibility for Momcilovic, and now Goodman reports a new suitor is in the mix.

One major program reportedly making a 'strong push' for 5-star Milan Momcilovic

Momcilovic is still in the 2026 NBA Draft, but with the deadline under 48 hours, many analysts and NBA executives believe the 5-star transfer will withdraw his name before it passes. Momcilovic has to make his NBA Draft decision by 11:59 p.m. on May 27, and if he doesn’t withdraw his name, he will stay in the NBA Draft.

Goodman recently asked 10 NBA executives whether they believed Momcilovic should stay in the draft or withdraw, and all 10 voted that he should withdraw. So, with the possibility of Momcilovic becoming available, Louisville fans knew more teams would jump into the recruiting process, and Goodman just reported the next team entering the battle for Momcilovic.

"The team trying to gain ground, per my sources, is Arizona," Goodman stated. "And a big part of that is they believe they're going to lose Koa Peat."

Louisville fans knew this was going to happen, but Goodman later stated that Arizona is making a “strong push,” so Cardinals fans have to keep a close eye on the Wildcats as they might be a real threat. Momcilovic ranks No. 2 overall in the Transfer Portal and is a 5-star transfer after he made 136 3's this past season while shooting 48.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Arizona's joining the battle for Momcilovic makes things a bit complicated for Kelsey, but Louisville and Kelsey have dominated the portal so far this offseason, and maybe he has just one last magic trick up his sleeve.
