Louisville basketball has shown interest in lethal 3-point shooters early in this year's transfer portal. The Cardinals are receiving visits from Isaac McKneely and Adrian Wooley and have reached out to many more elite shooting guards.
The Cardinals' glaring weakness from last season was their depth and shooting from beyond the arc. Louisville shot around 32 percent from downtown last season and desperately needs a consistent shooter. The Cardinals lost their No. 1 shooter from last season, Reyne Smith.
Smith splashed 107 threes last season, which was in the top 10 in the nation and the second-most threes in a single season in Louisville basketball history. While McKneely and Wooley are their top two targets, both players are linked to SEC giants.
A new elite shooter just entered the transfer portal, and Pat Kelsey must attack him, as he led the nation in 3-pointers last season.
This elite transfer portal target would solve Louisville basketball's kryptonite
According to Joe Tipton, Monmouth's guard Abdi Bashir Jr. officially entered the transfer portal last night. The sharpshooter of Omaha, Neb., has one of the purest jump shots in the nation, and he displayed that nearly every game last season.
Bashir connected on 127 threes last season, which led the nation, and he did it while shooting 38.3 percent. The former Monmouth sharpshooter is a perfect under-the-radar player that Kelsey and his squad should target just in case McKneely or Wooley pick elsewhere.
Monmouth guard Abdi Bashir Jr., the nation’s leader in three-point makes (127), is entering the transfer portal and will test the NBA Draft waters, he tells @on3sports.

The 6-7 sophomore averaged 20.1 PPG this season. Scored 38 points on Rutgers and 20 on Michigan State in… pic.twitter.com/lg78JDKau7
Bashir connected on three threes or more in 21 games, five threes or more in 12 games, seven threes or more in five games, and eight threes or more in three games. His season high was 10 made 3-pointers against Rutgers, the No. 24 team in the nation at the time.
This elite 6-foot-7 shooter scored 30 points or more in four games last season, with his season-high being 38 points in that spectacular performance against Rutgers. Bashir is a perfect target for Kelsey if their top two shooting guards decide to commit somewhere else.
He is worth reaching out to as he averaged a nation-best 3.8 threes per game. SEC giants Auburn and Florida have already jumped on this sharpshooter and contacted Bashir. Louisville needs depth and consistent shooters, and Monmouth's transfer is an excellent target for Kelsey.
