Louisville basketball fans are keeping a close eye on the 2027 recruiting class, as the Cardinals are in the mix for multiple notable prospects. Pat Kelsey has been seen traveling all over this offseason, including to multiple 5-star Reese Alston games and many, many more.
The Cardinals have already held a few recruits for visits and are scheduled to host some noteworthy recruits this fall, including 4-star Darius Wabbington. The elite center cut his list down to just six schools, including Louisville, and is scheduled to visit the Cardinals on September 11.
Two other recruits Louisville fans have their eyes on are 5-star CJ Rosser and another Lewis Uvwo. The two 5-stars have been in contact with Kelsey and Louisville, but it appears the Cardinals' two ACC rivals are leading the race, according to On3 Sports.
Louisville basketball trailing two ACC powerhouses for two 5-stars
On3 Sports' Jamie Shaw has made some bold predictions this offseason, including one in which he predicted Louisville to land Alston. The college basketball insider gave a 25% confidence level when he predicted Louisville would land the 5-star point guard, and now he is giving Duke and North Carolina some good news involving two Louisville targets.
Right now, Shaw gives the edge to North Carolina involving Rosser. The 6-foot-9, 200-pound power forward has earned over 26 offers, including from Louisville, UNC, Kentucky, Arkansas, Alabama, Kansas, and others. Rosser took an unofficial visit to Louisville earlier this year for a February game, and has since taken two unofficial visits to North Carolina.
Now, Shaw’s confidence level is “Medium”, as he puts UNC in the driver's seat.
As for the 5-star center, Uvwo. The Cardinals recently joined the race for Uvwo, as Shaw reported the Cardinals are one of the newer teams making a late push. However, it appears Louisville is trailing Duke, as Shaw once again makes the early prediction favoring the Blue Devils with a “Medium” confidence level.
The 6-foot-10, 225-pound center ranks No. 1 among centers and No. 7 overall in the 2027 recruiting class. He is a dominant rim protector, averaging 6.0 blocks per game at the Peach Jam event and 4.5 blocks per game at the Nike EYBL Circuit.
He has earned over 30 offers in his recruiting process, including from Kansas, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Texas, which is in the mix as well.
Kelsey has Louisville trending in the right direction with recruiting; just now, it appears the Cardinals are trailing for two of the top seven recruits in the nation. It is never fun to hear that two ACC rivals are trending with the Cardinals' target, especially when one is the No. 1 overall recruit. It is still early in the recruiting process for both 5-stars, and hopefully Louisville can find a way to stay in the mix.
