Louisville basketball has three players in the NBA Summer League, and two of them are set to make their debut against each other. The Cardinals learned shortly after the NBA Draft concluded that their former star point guard Chucky Hepburn signed a two-way deal with the Toronto Raptors and will represent the Raptors in Las Vegas.
Also set to represent the Cardinals in Las Vegas is Pat Kelsey's two other star guards, Terrence Edwards Jr. and Reyne Smith. The Milwaukee Bucks quickly grabbed Edwards for their Summer League squad, and the Denver Nuggets snagged Smith.
July 10 will mark the first day of competition for the NBA 2K26 Summer League, and on Thursday night, Louisville fans should tune in to the epic battle between the former Cardinals, as Edwards and Smith will quickly go from teammates to playing each other.

Two Louisville fan favorites set to clash in epic NBA Summer League battle
Both guards played just one season for Louisville, but quickly became fan favorites. The two former Cardinals will tip off Thursday night, July 10, at 9:30 p.m. local time in the NBA 2K26 Summer League.
Edwards led the Cardinals in scoring as he averaged 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 44 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from the 3-point line.
The 6-foot-6 guard earned All-ACC Third Team honors after he helped lead Louisville to its first-ever ACC Championship game. In the ACC Tournament, Edwards averaged 25.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting around 40 percent from the field.
As for Smith, he quickly entered his name in the Cardinals' history books as he splashed the second-most 3-pointers in a single season in program history. The 6-foot-3 guard splashed 107 3's last year, and 3.5 3-pointers per game, which was the third most in the nation.
Smith made 401 3-pointers in four collegiate seasons on 37.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc. He averaged 13.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last season, both marking career highs.
These two Cardinals helped lead Louisville to the Cardinals' biggest turnaround in the program's history as they gained 19 more wins than the previous season. Louisville won more games last season than in the previous three years combined.
Now, Edwards and Smith will look to turn their dreams into a reality and make their NBA teams G League teams, but it all starts tomorrow night, against each other. The two former Cards' will go head-to-head in their first crucial step of making it to the NBA.
