Louisville football got a huge update with one of its top commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, Ja’Hyde Brown. The 4-star wide receiver from Louisville earned major recognition from Rivals after the industry updated its 2027 recruiting rankings.

On Monday, July 13, Rivals updated its rankings, and one of the biggest surges was for the Louisville native and Jeff Brohm’s top-ranked commit. Brown soared up the rankings, jumping nearly 200 spots into the No. 66 spot, moving up 186 spots.

Now, with Brown getting this massive update and recognition, it is crystal clear what Brohm and Vince Marrow have to do. Brohm and his recruiting staff must do everything in their power to keep Brown and Cardinal, as he is still on flip watch.

Louisville's Ja'Hyde Brown remains on flip watch

Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class was once ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation, as Brohm and Marrow were dominating the early stages of recruiting. The Cardinals landed multiple in-state recruits and from the city of Louisville, including Brown.

Now, Brown is one of the top wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class, and while that is a huge update for the 4-star and the Cardinals, Louisville must not lose him.

Before the update, the Cardinals were already put on alert about Brown being on a flip watch. While he hasn’t visited any other programs, he has been contacted by multiple programs. And to add on that, not just any program, big-time college football schools like Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Kentucky.

So, it is amazing to see that Brown and Louisville fans are thrilled for the Cardinal commit and the hometown 4-star recruit. However, now the biggest worry is losing him, similar to Louisville losing 4-star cornerback Allen Evans.

The Cardinals landed Evans over major programs like Alabama, Penn State, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. He was the sixth-highest commitment in program history when he originally committed to Louisville; however, the 4-star Louisville native flipped his commitment from the Cardinals to Vanderbilt.

Shortly after Evans decommitted from Brohm’s Cardinals, 4-star wide receiver commit Chuck Alexander Jr. flipped from Louisville to Iowa State. Now, the Cardinals have lost five commitments in their 2027 recruiting class, including 4-star quarterback Jack Sorgi, who was their first commitment in the class.

Brown’s surge in rankings is well-deserved, and Louisville fans can’t be any happier for the local hometown wide receiver, but now the pressure is on Brohm and Marrow to win the recruiting battle over these powerhouse programs that are trying to rip him away.
