Pat Kelsey and his coaching staff continue to work overtime with this 2027 recruiting class, as the Cardinals are doing everything they can to try and land a 5-star for the third straight year. Louisville landed 5-star Mikel Brown Jr. in the 2025 recruiting class, Obinna Ekeize Jr. in the 2026 recruiting class, and now Kelsey has positioned the Cardinals with multiple 5-stars in the 2027 class.
The Cardinals are making noise with multiple recruits like Reese Alston, whom Fox Sports analyst Aaron Torres just named the Cardinals as the team to beat, and they are also trending with the top two recruits in the nation. Louisville already made CJ Rosser and DeMarcus Henry’s updated recruiting list, and it was just reported moments ago that the Cardinals assistant coach Ronnie Hamilton took a trip to visit Rosser this morning and will visit Henry later in the week, according to 247 Sports Jacob Polacheck.

Louisville basketball visits DeMarcus Henry and CJ Rosser
The Cardinals are looking to hit multiple home runs in the 2027 recruiting class, and that is clear by Kelsey and his staff's strong push for multiple 5-stars. Henry cut his list down to just eight schools this summer, and the Cardinals are trending as a major threat in this race.
Right now, On3 Sports gives Louisville the highest chance to land Henry at 41 percent, with Ohio State next at 13 percent, followed by BYU at 11 percent. Duke and North Carolina are two teams to watch out for as well, as Jamie Shaw predicts the 5-star to go to one of the in-state schools.
Henry recently visited Louisville earlier this month, so with Hamilton traveling to see him again, it shows the Cardinals want to stay at the top of the race for the No. 2 overall recruit and don’t want to lose the lead they have built.
As for Rosser, the elite power forward ranks as the No. 1 overall prospect in the nation, and the Cardinals' visit to him Monday morning shows they're very serious about the 5-star. Rosser just cut his list to seven schools and has scheduled an official visit with each one. Right now, UNC is the favorite to land Rosser, as he has visited the Tar Heels multiple times, but now Louisville is taking matters into their own hands and visiting Rosser before their visit.
Louisville has already hosted the 5-star this year for an unofficial visit in February, and their official visit is the last of the seven on October 22.
There is a lot to be excited for when it comes to Louisville’s recruiting surge in the 2027 class, but now Kelsey has to find a way to get that first domino to fall his way, and hopefully the rest just follow. He showed he can dominate the Transfer Portal this offseason; now the plan is for him to build off that and land some big-time 5-star recruits out of high school, and he is putting the Cardinals in a great position.
