There is a lot of offseason buzz right now with Louisville basketball and recruiting. The Cardinals are in the mix for many elite players in the 2027 recruiting class, including 5-star point guard Reese Alston. Pat Kelsey attended multiple games of Alston’s at the recent Puma event, and Jamie Shaw from On3 Sports broke down that, as of now, the Cardinals are in the mix, battling LSU and Wichita State.

The Cardinals are also making an early push in the 2028 recruiting class. The contact period opened up earlier this summer, and Kelsey took full advantage of it as he reached out to multiple elite recruits in the 2028 cycle. The Cardinals fans have their eyes on many prospects in the 2028 recruiting class, but there is one star who stands out from the rest.

Louisville fans love to recruit the hometown prospects, and the biggest name on the list is elite 4-star combo guard Josh Lindsay. The Louisville native has gone viral multiple times for his ability to soar in the air, and earlier this week, Louisville fans immediatley called on Kelsey about Lindsay after another high-flying dunk.

Josh Lindsay continues to impress the Louisville basketball fans

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound guard is an elite scorer who can score in multiple ways, but his ability to soar through the air and finish with authority is what really catches the Louisville and college basketball fans' eyes. Lindsay is currently playing for Mokan Elite at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, and the St. Xavier guard went viral again earlier this week, which has the Louisville fans absolutely buzzing.

Lindsay remains one of Louisville's top recruits in the 2028 class, as the Cardinals' faithful have had their eyes on the Louisville native for a long time. The elite 4-star has been to Louisville for multiple games, including the Cardinals' exhibition game against Kansas this past season. Outside of Louisville, the local 4-star has also taken unofficial visits to Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Xavier, and Indiana.

When the contact period opened, it was reported that multiple teams outside the Cardinals reached out, including North Carolina, Auburn, Missouri, USC, Iowa, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Utah, Boston College, Xavier, and Western Kentucky. Lindsay is one of the top-ranked combo guards in the nation and has already earned 10 offers, including from Auburn, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, and others.

Lindsay is a unanimous 4-star recruit in the 2028 recruiting class and ranks as high as No. 35 overall in the 2028 cycle, No. 5 among combo guards, and the No. 1-ranked recruit out of Kentucky.

Lindsay continues to impress the Cardinals fans, and while it won’t be easy, the dream is for the local 4-star to stay home and pair up with the Cardinals' already 4-star commit and Louisville native Ferlandes Wright.
