Louisville basketball is making some noise in the class of 2027 recruiting, as Pat Kelsey had one busy offseason with recruiting. The Cardinals' head coach has put Louisville in a position to contend for multiple 5-star prospects, including Reese Alston, Demarcus Henry, and Darius Wabbington.
Kelsey has certainly made it seem like Alston is one of his top priorities in this class, attending multiple games of the 5-star point guards, and Henry and Wabbington already gave Louisville an update, as the Cardinals are in each 5-star recruit's respective finalists.
Now, the Cardinals are beginning to attack the class of 2028 as well, as Louisville recently extended an offer to 5-star power forward Benjamin Berrouet.

Berrouet is one of the top recruits in the 2028 recruiting class, as the Cardinals are the newest team to extend an offer to the 5-star. The elite power forward already has 34 offers, including from big-time programs like Houston, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Texas Tech, USC, and others.

The Cardinals recently showed interest in the 5-star power forward by traveling to Romania to watch Berrouet play for Latvia at the FIBA U16 event. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound forward dominated from start to finish on Sunday with Louisville’s assistant coach Ronnie Hamilton watching, as Berrouet posted 33 points and 22 rebounds in Latvia’s win.
After an eye-popping game like that, the Cardinals extended their offer shortly after. The 5-star power forward ranks as high as No. 5 in the nation, No. 1 among power forwards and No. 1 among recruits from Texas.
The Cardinals are making a push for a few other 2028 recruits, as earlier this summer Louisville and Kelsey extended an offer to the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect and the No. 1 center, Yann Kamagate. The 7-foot, 230-pound center ranks No. 1 in the class in multiple recruiting outlets, including ESPN and 247 Sports.
Now, Louisville has extended an offer to another top-five recruit in the class, as the Cardinals have officially entered the race for Berrouet. Obviously, it is still extremely early in Berrouet’s recruiting process, but the Texas native is going to have a heated recruiting battle with some powerhouse programs, and hopefully the Cardinals just put themselves on his radar and in the mix to earn his commitment.
