Louisville basketball suffered its first Transfer Portal loss this offseason, as Cardinals fans learned that former 4-star commit Sananda Fru plans to enter the portal when it opens. The Transfer Portal doesn’t officially open up until April 7, but Draft Express' Jonathan Givony reported that Fru’s agent, Milan Nikolic, told DraftExpress that the Cards' former starting center won’t return to Louisville and will enter the portal.
Fru spent one season with Louisville after coming over from Germany this past offseason. Louisville had high expectations for the former 4-star as he won the Basketball Bundesliga's Best German Young Player award the year leading up to his run with Louisville, but with the Cardinals, he just didn’t have the run many had hoped for, as he started the first 29 games, but his lack of physicality forced Pat Kelsey to move him to the bench.

Jeff Brohm and Louisville football land another in-state 4-star
On the positive side of things, Jeff Brohm and Louisville football struck gold yet again as the Cards landed their fifth 4-star yesterday afternoon. Former Indiana commit and Louisville native Ja’Hyde Brown committed to Louisville yesterday over Kentucky and many other Power Four programs.
Brown is currently a 4-star wide receiver who ranks as high as No. 409 in the 2027 cycle and No. 49 among wide receivers. He is a consensus top-10 recruit out of Kentucky, ranking No. 7 in 247Sports rankings. Last year, the Christian Academy of Louisville wide receiver caught 98 passes for 1,556 receiving yards and 24 receiving touchdowns.

Louisville Cardinals on transfer watch moving forward
With Kelsey suffering his first loss to the Transfer Portal on Monday, the Cardinals fans will now have a close eye on a few players moving forward. Last offseason, Kelsey did a good job of recruiting from within and avoiding a disaster in which the Cardinals lost a major roster piece.
However, with Fru already entering the portal, it feels like Louisville fans are anticipating the Cardinals losing quite a few pieces, and this could just be the beginning. There are some players Louisville certainly wants to bring back if the asking price isn’t too high, but there are also some players the fans have made clear they wouldn’t mind if they walked, and Kelsey would have to replace them. So, we broke down three Cardinals on transfer watch after Fru entered the Transfer Portal.

Louisville football hosted two more elite in-state recruits
The Cardinals landed Brown’s commitment yesterday, and then later at practice, hosted two more elite in-state recruits for a practice visit. Malachi Brown and Elijah Burns-Crump were both in attendance at Louisville on Monday, as the Cardinals continue to try to dominate the in-state recruiting.
Brown is a unanimous 4-star defensive lineman who ranks as high as No. 4 out of the state of Kentucky, No. 244 in the 2027 recruiting class, and No. 29 among defensive linemen. As for Burns-Crump, he is the star safety and teammate of current Louisville 4-star commit Allen Evans at Trinity High School. Burns-Crump logged an impressive 2025 season, totaling 56 tackles, three Interceptions, four tackles for a loss, one fumble recovered for a touchdown, and 0.5 sacks.
