The biggest news Friday afternoon was that Louisville football learned that they earned a commitment from a 3-star running back, Lekhy Thompkins. The newest Cardinal is ranked as the No. 992 prospect in the class of 2026, the No. 59 running back, and the No. 31 recruit out of Tennessee.
Thompkins is the 14th commitment for the Cardinals in the class of 2026 and the second running back. Four-star running back Evan Hampton is the Cardinals' second-highest commitment and elevated the Cardinals' recruiting class to being ranked as the 16th-best class in the nation.

Louisville basketball makes offer to 5-star SF
Louisville basketball eyes a couple of years later, as Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals made an offer to a 5-star sensation. The Cards offered Bruce Branch III, a 5-star forward in the class of 2027. Branch is ranked as the eighth-best recruit in the 2027 class, the No. 4 small forward, and the best player out of Arizona.
The 6-foot-7, 170-pound forward averaged 11.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game in his sophomore season and is currently playing for the Compton Magic. With the Magic, he is averaging 15.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game

College Football Playoffs make crucial change
College Football made some significant changes to its 12-team Playoff format. On Thursday, the College Football Playoffs Management Committee announced that it will now use the “straight seed” layout. The playoffs will be much better moving forward, as they will favor the four best teams in the nation rather than the four best conference winners.
The Committee got this entirely right, putting College Football on the right path. Fans from every conference from all over the nation are rejoicing and celebrating this much-needed change to the CFP.

Louisville football's Jeff Brohm earns high praise ahead 2025 season
Louisville football currently has the third-best odds to win the ACC Title. Jeff Brohm and his staff have created one of the most explosive offenses in the nation. The Cardinals have elite weapons returning all over the field and will be led by one of the best coaches in the nation.
CBS Sports ranked the top coaches in the nation, and like the USA Today rankings, CBS Sports ranked Brohm as the second-best ACC coach. Brohm was ranked as the 17th best coach in the country and was only behind the Clemson Tigers head coach, Dabo Swinney, who is ranked No. 3. The Cardinals' head coach has a 19-8 record in his two years with Louisville and a 12-4 ACC record.
