Louisville football fans got a good laugh on Friday morning as the Cardinals' top recruit Ja’Hyde Brown took matters into his own hands to shut down any rumors about him this weekend. The 4-star wide receiver is the Cardinals' top commitment in the 2027 recruiting class, and since his offseason surge, rumors have suggested he could be on flip watch.
Those rumors have died down over time, but on Friday, Kentucky fans tried to start that up again. Brown has been loyal to Louisville since he committed to the Cardinals, even traveling to Tennessee to watch the Cardinals play Ole Miss in their Week 1 showdown.
Kentucky fans tried to start a new rumor that the 4-star wide receiver was going to Lexington to watch Kentucky vs. Alabama; however, Brown took matters into his own hands and quickly shut it down.

Brown went to his social media page to deny the rumor that he was going to Lexington for the game by posting “NOT TRUE FAKE NEWS” in all caps. The Kentucky fan page has now deleted the post.

Brown is a Louisville native who has emerged as one of the best wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class. He attends Christian Academy of Louisville, where he has dominated his first three games of his senior season, collecting 415 yards and nine touchdowns, including last week, when he earned six catches for 143 receiving yards and three touchdowns against Lexington Christian Academy.
Brown originally committed to Indiana, but decommitted in late 2025. After his decommitment, it became an in-state recruiting battle between Louisville and Kentucky for Brown, and Jeff Brohm ultimately won, landing the 4-star recruit.
Now, Brown has been committed to Louisville since March 30, and ever since, Kentucky fans have been trying to convince the 4-star to flip to Will Stein and the Wildcats. However, the 4-star wide receiver appears loyal to Brohm and his hometown, as he quickly shut down the rumor on Friday that he would visit Kentucky this weekend.
Brown is ranked as high as the No. 1 recruit out of Kentucky, according to MaxPreps, and ranks as high as No. 66 overall in the nation and No. 11 among wide receivers.
