Louisville football’s recruiting surge has Jeff Brohm on the verge of program history

Louisville football is on a huge recruiting surge at the moment as the Cardinals recently landed two 3-star commitments in the last 24 hours. Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow landed a big commitment from Kyson Mallard, a former Georgia Bulldog commitment, and the Cards beat out ACC programs like Pitt, Florida State, and Georgia Tech, as well as major programs like Auburn, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.

Jeff Brohm’s recruiting surge continues with Louisville landing two more 2027 commitments

Louisville also landed 3-star Keontay Toomer over Cincinnati, Purdue, Missouri, Pitt, Illinois, and others, and on Monday, the Cards landed in-state recruit Darrian Tomlin over Miami. And earlier this month, the Cardinals landed 4-star recruit AJ Tillman Jr after his official visit to Louisville.

So, Louisville is capitalizing on these major recruiting visits, and with these commitments, Brohm is trending toward making history.

Jeff Brohm’s latest recruiting wins move Louisville closer to history

Recently, we noted Louisville and Brohm are one huge recruiting surge away from making history, and the Cardinals are possibly doing it right now. The Cardinals have only had two recruiting classes in program history rank inside the nation’s top 25 after signing day, and right now Brohm has this class trending towards etching its name in the history books.

The Cardinals have 18 commitments after this red-hot start to June, and Louisville is now ranked as high as No. 22 in the 247Sports recruiting team rankings. With the Cardinals' No. 22 ranking, that would mean it would be just the third time in program history a recruiting class ranks inside the top 25, and if Louisville were to stay ranked No. 22 by the end of the year, it would be the highest-rated class in program history.

The only other times Louisville was ranked in the top 25 were in 2006, and when it ranked No. 24 in the cycle, and in 2023, when it ranked No. 25. So, after this huge recruiting surge from Louisville and Brohm, it put the Cardinals in position to make history and to secure the program's best recruiting class.

There's still a lot of time left, so Louisville hasn’t made history yet. However, Brohm and Marrow are flipping this program around right now, and the recruiting is a major reason. The Cardinals dominated the Transfer Portal, earning the No. 5-ranked portal class by On3 Sports, and now this duo and its staff are trending towards a historic 2027 recruiting class.

They have already earned six 4-star commitments, including three from Kentucky and two from Ohio. The Cardinals have prioritized those two states, as 10 of their 18 commitments are from Kentucky and Ohio. The Cards' top-rated commitment from the 2027 recruiting class is a Louisville native, and he etched his name in the Cards' history books when he committed, as Allen Evans is now the sixth-highest commitment in program history.

Now, Brohm and Marrow are trying to make history again, but this time with the entire class. Louisville’s recruiting surge is putting them in a great position to make history, but the Cardinals have to finish strong if they want to secure the best recruiting class in program history and finish in the top 25.
