Louisville basketball continues making moves for No. 1 CJ Rosser and No. 2 DeMarcus Henry

A few recruits Louisville fans are paying close attention to right now include No. 1 overall prospect CJ Rosser, 5-star point guard Reese Alston, and 5-star forward DeMarcus Henry. The Cardinals have made all three updated recruiting lists, and either have already hosted the 5-star for an official visit or are scheduled to host the 5-star shortly.

Louisville hosted Henry for an official visit in early September, and later in the month Pat Kelsey flew out to visit the 5-star again. The Cardinals are doing the right things, but the recruiting process isn’t over yet, as shown by the elite 5-star setting up an official visit with Kelsey and Louisville’s in-state rival, the Kentucky Wildcats.

Kentucky set to host 5-star SF DeMarcus Henry

Henry recently cut his list to just eight schools, including Louisville and Kentucky, and as recruiting ramps up in the fall, the 5-star small forward is officially visiting Mark Pope’s Wildcats on October 5, according to Sam Kayser.

As of right now, the final eight include Louisville, UConn, Kansas, Arkansas, North Carolina, BYU, Ohio State, and Kentucky, but many believe the Duke Blue Devils are in the mix after Jon Scheyer extended an official offer in August.

Kelsey has positioned Louisville as a legit contender for Henry, landing the 5-star forward's first official visit. After visiting the Cardinals, Henry took official visits to UConn and Arkansas, and now Kentucky is next in line to earn a visit.

Louisville and Kentucky have been in many recruiting battles since Pope and Kelsey arrived, including over the offseason, when the two went head-to-head for numerous transfers in the Transfer Portal. Now, they turn their attention to a recruiting battle for not only a unanimous 5-star prospect, but a top-five overall recruit in the 2027 class.

Henry ranks as high as No. 2 overall in the nation and is the unanimous No. 1 small forward in this upcoming class. The 6-foot-7 small forward averaged 18.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game this summer at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.

Right now, Louisville has the edge over Kentucky and others, as Rivals' prediction meter has Kelsey as the frontrunner. Louisville currently has the highest chance to earn his commitment at 25.8 percent, followed by Arkansas at 22.6 percent and UConn at 18.8 percent. So, this is a close battle, and Kentucky earning a visit certainly puts them right in the mix.

Now, the two rivals are battling it out, among others, and Louisville will try to do everything they can to keep the lead they currently have.
