Louisville football fans currently have a close eye on their top 4-star commitment, Ja’Hyde Brown. The Louisville native has been committed to the Cardinals since early 2026, but recently, flip rumors have begun to surface as he has scheduled multiple visits this fall.
Louisville’s 4-star commit Ja'Hyde Brown is chasing history amid flip concerns
Brown already visited Florida and was supposed to visit Kentucky this past weekend, but the Cardinal commit stayed loyal to Louisville and ultimately canceled his visit to UofL’s biggest rival, Kentucky. However, Kentucky still landed a big-time visit this past weekend for their showdown with LSU, as a former Louisville commit and current 4-star corner back, Allen Evans, made an official visit.
Former Louisville commit Allen Evans visits Kentucky this past weekend
Evans is a recruit Louisville fans know well, as the 4-star cornerback not only committed to the Cardinals initially but is also a Louisville native like Brown. Evans plays high school football at Trinity High School and has been highly recruited throughout his recruiting process, earning over 20 offers.
Evans originally cut his list to just 10 schools, putting Louisville in a recruiting battle with Alabama, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. The 4-star commit then committed to the Cardinals and Jeff Brohm on January 10, before absolutely crushing Cardinals fans' hearts by flipping to Vanderbilt on June 26.
Evans was the sixth-highest commitment in Louisville football history and a huge addition to the Cardinals' 2027 recruiting class. However, the local 4-star gutted the Cardinals with his decommitment, and now it appears he might stab them in the heart if he commits to Louisville’s rival.

Evans is a unanimous 4-star recruit in the 2027 class and is considered one of its best defensive backs in the class. The Louisville native ranks as high as No. 76 overall and is regarded as a top 100 prospect in the nation by On3 Sports, ESPN, and 247 Sports. He also ranks as high as No. 9 among cornerbacks and as Kentucky's second-best recruit by On3 Sports, ESPN, and 247 Sports.
If Louisville fans wanted to dream, they would love to see the former Cardinal give Brohm and UofL another chance and schedule a visit to pair him with Brown, but that seems unrealistic. Evans has a couple more visits lined up, as the Vanderbilt commit is visiting Ole Miss and Auburn, according to Allen Trieu.
It still hurts to see Evans as a current Commodore, but Louisville fans definitely don’t want to see him flip again and become a Wildcat. The Louisville native finished his junior season with 28 tackles and two interceptions, and didn’t allow a single touchdown.
