It is no secret that Louisville basketball fans are keeping a close eye on Milan Momcilovic. The 5-star power forward has a massive decision to make shortly, as the Iowa State transfer has to decide if he wants to stay in the NBA Draft or withdraw from the draft and return to college basketball.
Milan Momcilovic recruitment turning into Louisville vs. Kentucky showdown
While Momcilovic made it clear last week that his intention is to stay in the draft if he gets a first-round promise, new rumors are surfacing this afternoon about his potential asking price, and given the rumored price, it is clear Momcilovic has an easy choice to make.
Louisville target Milan Momcilovic's rumored asking price is massive
Momcilovic was the best 3-point shooter in college basketball last season, knocking down the most 3’s (136) and shooting the best from beyond the arc at 48.7 percent. So, he is a player that NBA teams are definitely looking at. However, it also means that with him entering the portal, he immediatley becomes one of the top targets in the Transfer Portal, which means he can make a lot of money if he returns.
As of May 21, he is still in the NBA Draft, but the deadline to make his decision is just six days away. 247Sports' Isaac Trotter not only reveals the price for Momcilovic but also thinks that, given the asking price, it is hard to imagine Momcilovic doesn’t return to college basketball.
“The type of money that is at stake here, it’s just hard to leave $6 million on the table, and I think he would probably get in that ballpark,” Trotter stated. “He will get paid big-time regardless in college basketball next season if he chooses that route.”

Trotter made it clear that Momcilovic wants to stay in the draft and play in the NBA, but at a price around $6 million, he thinks it is hard to imagine the 6-foot-8 staying in the draft and risking being a second-round pick.
Now, Louisville is, of course, in the mix for Momcilovic, so this is good news for the Cardinals, as it appears many reporters think and are predicting Momcilovic to return, which gives Kelsey a golden opportunity to complete this “superteam”, as Bidunga stated.
Now, it’s a lot of money, but Kelsey made it clear he wants to win a National Championship, and getting a player like Momcilovic is worth every penny. So, the asking price shouldn’t scare Kelsey. But it won’t be easy because Kentucky and St. John’s have a lot of money as well, and other teams will likely join the race if Momcilovic does officially withdraw from the draft.
But Trotter makes it clear he thinks Momcilovic has an easy NBA Draft decision this year, and if he does return, the Louisville Cardinals are reportedly an early frontrunner.
