The spring transfer portal is officially open. It will be open from April 16 through April 25, marking a 10-day window. Players from all over the country will enter their names and try to find their new homes quickly.

College football has two massive portals. The spring transfer portal is the second window for players, as the first window was back in December 2024. Louisville football lost some valuable players but gained a massive prospect on the offensive side of the ball.

Louisville will now seek more great news this spring, but the Cardinals already landed a massive prospect in the winter transfer portal, Miller Moss.

The next big thing in College football is heading to Louisville football

Moss was a unanimous 4-star prospect in the transfer portal, and he will now transfer to Louisville from USC. The future Cardinal officially committed to Jeff Brohm and his Cardinals on Dec. 15, which was a massive domino for the Cardinals.

The Los Angeles, California native earned 24 offers out of high school and picked the Trojans over programs like Georgia, LSU, Penn State, Miami, Alabama, and many more. Moss entered the portal on Dec. 2 and would eventually pick the Cardinals and set this 2025 Cardinals team up for high expectations.

Moss played three seasons at USC before transferring. He threw for 3,469 yards on an impressive 65.9 completion percentage and 27 touchdowns. The 4-star recruit out of high school proved his potential, believe it or not, against the Cardinals when Moss broke the USC and Holiday Bowl game record with six passing touchdowns. Moss's six touchdowns also went on to be the most thrown touchdown passes by a USC quarterback in his first start and tied the Pac-12 Bowl game passing touchdown record.

Last season with the Trojans, Moss threw for 18 touchdowns and 2,555 passing yards. He threw over 300 yards four times last season, including his season high of 378 passing yards on 75 percent completion percentage with one passing touchdown and a QBR of 82.9 against the LSU Tigers. One of his standout performances came against Maryland, when he threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns on 68 percent completion percentage.

Moss's impressive season last year made him a top-10 quarterback in the transfer portal. The future Cardinal has the skills to be one of the top quarterbacks in the ACC, but to achieve that mark, he must utilize his two elite wide receivers, Caullin Lacy and Chris Bell. Moss should be the Cardinals' leader next year, while Isaac Brown will be one of Louisville's top priorities, Brown won't be able to do his thing if Moss can't clear up the run game.

So, while the Cardinals are losing an elite quarterback in Tyler Shough, they are also bringing in a tremendous replacement in Moss, who has the skills to pick apart a defense and thread the needle, as he showcased in the annual Spring Game.

Moss demonstrated his full potential this past Spring Game when he threw for 208 yards and helped lead his team to a 32-24 victory on Friday night. He threw a touchdown to Antonio Meeks and made some impressive throws that were darts that had to be nearly perfect.

Brohm's future starting quarterback is expected to elevate this Louisville football program to the next level and help them compete with Clemson, Miami, and SMU for the ACC crown. Louisville will be right at the top with Moss slinging the ball around next year, and they will be right there with the elite programs of the ACC and fighting for a spot in the ACC Championship game.
