Louisville basketball hit a small snag in its longest conference tournament winning streak, as the Cardinals fell to the SMU Mustangs on the road Tuesday night, 95-85. The game was a back-and-forth scoring frenzy, with SMU having the hotter hand and repaying the Cardinals for their win at Louisville earlier this season. The Cardinals had been playing their best basketball of the season, in particular Mikel Brown Jr., who posted his third straight game of 29 points or more.

Louisville has its freshman star absolutely leading the way on the offensive end for the Cardinals, a welcome sight and what assuredly was the plan all along for coach Pat Kelsey. Brown has shown he can lead the way along with senior stars Ryan Conwell and J’Vonne Hadley, as the offense has begun to reach its full potential on a consistent basis. However, the star power of these three individuals is not enough to take Louisville basketball to the promised land in March.

Here are 3 Louisville basketball players who need to step up in the Cardinals 5 remaining regular-season games.
