Louisville football Spring game is set for April 11in L&N Stadium, and Cardinals fans are patiently awaiting the 2025 season.

The transfer portal window is open for 10 days, going from April 16-25, and players can decide if they want to leave their current program in a 30 day window. So, Louisville football is on a ticking time bomb right now, as they have glaring holes, and it must be addressed in the spring transfer portal.

Jeff Brohm will be entering his third season as the Cardinals head coach, and will be seeking UofL fourth consecutive season of eight wins or more and his third straight season of at least nine wins. Cardinals wins total line was released by FanDuel yesterday at 8.5.

Here are the three main positions Jeff Brohm and Louisville football must address in the spring transfer portal if they want to compete for an ACC Championship.

3 positions Louisville football and Jeff Brohm must address in transfer portal

Cornerback

Louisville football biggest hole is undeniably the cornerback position. Louisville lost all their starters on the outside, and four of their top five cornerbacks from 2024.

Quincy Riley, and Corey Thornton will move on and play in the NFL, Tahveon Nicholson is out of eligibility and Aaron Williams transferred to UCLA. Louisville biggest cornerback signing this offseason was in Jabari Mack out of Jacksonville State from the transfer portal.

Cardinals also added Justin Agu out of Louisiana, and Rodney Johnson Jr. from Southern University. While all three transfer corners had decent production in their group of five collegiate career, the jump from group of five to the Power four and ACC will be a hard adjustment.

Tight End

Mark Redman was the Cardinals starting tight end in the 2024 season and was ranked fourth on the team with 24 receptions third in receiving yards with 256 yards. He also placed third in touchdown scored for the team, as he found the end zone three times in 13 games.

Redman declared for the NFL draft, and then Cardinals back up from last season, Jamari Johnson, hit the transfer portal and transfered to Big 10 champions, Oregon Ducks. Other two former tight ends on the team last year, Duane Martin and Izayah Cummings ran out of eligibility and graduated.

Nate Kurisky, the sophomore out of Washington D.C., had 12 catches for 112 yards and three touchdowns. He has a total of 153 reeceiving yards and 5 touchdowns in he young college career. Behind Kurisky for depth perspective as of now is Jaleel Skinner. Skinner was a four-star recruit ranked 100th nationally, and fourth best tight end in class of 2022, according to 247 sports. The high-rated prospect has a lot of potential, but has only had 11 catches for 142 yards and one touchdown.

Tight ends coach, Ryan Wallace, needs to find his tight end one in the transfer portal, and he needs to find it fast.

Wide Reciever

Louisville football lost Ja'Corey Brooks to the NFL, as he was the Cardinals No.1 target at wide receiver in the 2024 season. Brooks brought in 61 catches for 1,013 yards and nine touchdowns. He was first team All-ACC, as he had five 100-yard receiving games, and became the Cardinals first wide receiver since 2022 to record 1,000+ receiving yards.

Caullin Lacy has only played one year at Louisville, as the years prior he was on South Alabama. In 2023 he had 91 catches for 1,316 yards and seven touchdowns. His 1,316 receiving yards ranked seventh in the country, and his 91 receptions ranked eighth in the nation. Lacy and Moss have potential to be an unstoppable duo but it would be nice to get Lacy some help.

Cardinals are lost three of their four leading receivers last year, and four of their top six. Lacy and Chris Bell will return, but some help take pressure of these two returning receivers is needed for transfer quarterback, Miller Moss.

A physical receiver to draw the safeties attention in middle of the fields would open up Lacy on the outside and help lead this offense to become an unstoppable beast with Miller Moss and Isaac Brown.
